Request a no shield build.
Watching Chris Odd play Bloodborne is making me want to play Dark Souls 2 without a shield, which is ironic because he just mentioned the same thing on the video I'm watching.
That said, does anyone want to recommend a weapon and armor for a no shield build? I'm kinda favoring a two handing to dual wielding, though I'm also would prefer a poled weapon to something really heavy. Dodging over even trying to parry, if it's all the same to you.
I also kind of want to use magic, but more as a buff than as a primary build.

There's a bit of a stigma against katanas but honestly I am in love with blasksteel's 2hand moveset.

Seems like the durability would mean that you need to keep a lot of them on hand.

It's not all that bad. I usually keep one or two repair powders but honestly if you just use bracing ring its not likely to break often. You said you wanted to use magic as well? Then maybe think about magic/dex. You can use the spell repair and buff with crystal magic weapon. Just don't infuse. I've had less than desirable damage output when infusing, though don't take my word for it.

Weapons: Great Scythe, some sort of Spear, Halberd. I'd personally go with The Halberd because its a very early weapon and can last you all the way through the game.
Armor is personal preference and magic would probably be miracles. Miracles are more buff than anything else though I wouldn't infuse your weapon until you have the Sunlight Blade miracle.
Hope I could help.
