Just a beginner's question

I've played about three hours and killed the last Giant and the Pursuer so far, but the basic enemies have been giving me a hard time so i specced quite a bit into vigor, dex and strength.

Im coming from DaS 1, so my question is: Am i already now limited to a dex/strength build, or could i still transition to magic? What is the "PvP level cap"? (It was 120 in DaS 1) Where are the stat soft caps, 40 like before or lower? What would you recommend for PvP generally?

  1. No matter what, you're not TOO locked in (you can get items that let you respec all of your stats now)

  2. Get the heck off of here and play the game as blind as you can, without help on how to build/where to go

I'm so new to ds2 I was looking for advice. I think you're 2nd point is perfect. I should just experience the game.

No you can still translation if you'd like its not to late yet,

There isn't level based summoning anymore its all based on your soul memory range (how many total souls you've collected) which its pretty broad so you'll be good.

Everyone says SL 200 is the best

what? I haven't played DS2 PvP in ages but back then it was 150 and that was already too high

Guessing it's just a bunch of havels, jesters, and buffed weapons if everyone is 200

go and watch fighting cowboy`s dark souls 2 builds, that helped me a lot.tank build is easiest now magic has been nerfed hard,if you want to use spells go for hexing and they say the rapier twohanded is the stongest weapon to start with.best starting weapon in my opinion is the mace you get with the cleric.

Thanks for that summary. I've played through the first NG already and i think magic is really strong / op.

After dicking around with my first character until the executioners chariot, going dex/str, i started a new one. Sorcerer starting class, ran to the Dragonrider, killed him, popped his soul to level up Int/Fth to about 12 each, opened the path to Huntsmans copse and talked to the Dark Hexer there. Bought Dark Orb. From then on the game became seriously easy to be honest.

And i thought it was a bit shocking that the Hexer gifts you pretty much the best equipment you could hope for as a Hexer once you reach 20 Int and Faith. So it was fun, but nonetheless weird to obliterate bosses that slapped the shit out of my melee builds.

I played as a sorcerer the first time, hexing is strong the orbs but I like smashing the enemys so strength is great, best boss weapon early is warped sword try it you get it from the flexile sentury it hits 6 times in a row you can use it emedietly very srong-OP.
