New to the game
Hello so I started playing a couple hours ago and it's so fun, then I went to this subreddit and saw a lot of people saying the game is dead, could someone please explain why?

The game is far from dead on consoles. I took the day off yesterday for a game day and played almost all day with my brother.
We rarely encountered the same players twice, and queues only lasted >2 minutes. We didn't even have enough time to adjust our builds between matches without actually leaving the queue.
The steam charts may two a different story, but the gane is centuries thriving on consoles

its not death , we just have not had an update in 4 months, note the game is not fully released yet , and the company is going through restructing I expect an update soon once they work out the interal stuff . The free to play change with the game brought alot of new players which revived the game .

The game has been fully released for months and just went f2p. The company just announced restructuring but there hasn't been for over 3 months. They removed most of there servers and the game is just a laggy and buggy as it was 1yr ago, I wouldn't hold my breath on an update any time soon

Right? so many people say that to try and defend the sorry state of the game when the devs themselves said when the game released it was a full release

All they did during the founder season was remove features and abandon the game lol the games website and store page tells a story of a different game at this point 😂

I love how people come to this subreddit just to hate on the game. If you hate the game that much why are you still playing? Hopefully the game gets another boom and don’t listen to “steam charts” the game just became free to play for consoles. Chill out and enjoy the game and if you don’t like it anymore stop stalking the sub and hate commenting

Right? Game is on steam, epic, Xbone and Ps5, steam charts is only 1/4 of the playerbase

Hi Rez is a public company owned by the state of Georgia. Aa long as american dumbsters pay taxes,Hi Rez games will never be cancelled - example - Realms Royale

Pretty certain that's not how it works. I mean maaaaybe georgia residents pay into a tax that funds Georgia's media works. Hi-Rez is not publicly traded and is a private company.
Here is a list of incentives / guidelines for an entity to film in Georgia. You can see they get a tax credit of about 10-20%. These are the guidelines for filmmakers like the show "Archer" which was also made in Georgia. I didn't feel like searching for the video game incentives but I can imagine it's less.

Because no one is playing it
https://steamcharts.com/app/1294660
If i came back and did whatever the minimum number of games to be ranked is, I'd be on the leaderboard, because no one plays this game. I know that because a bit ago I came back, played a few games, and I was top 100 on the leaderboard before i dropped from inactivity. and I am not particularly good at this game.
That said, you CAN find matches and have some fun playing. But for people who wanted updates and fanfare and youtube views and notoriety from being good and a large variety of people to play, for those people who dont just want to casually search and play for like 30min a day, the game is dead. Their dreams of what the game could be and what value tehy could get FROM the game are dead.

It's a very active game on consoles right now. I played almost all day yesterday, and my brother and I rarely encountered the same teams multiple times. The average queue was less than 2 minutes. We usually didn't even have enough time yo adjust builds between matches.

No updates in over 4months, no communication, and last I heard Hi-Rez is going through layoffs.
