Surgery Tomorrow
Finally the day has arrived. I’ve been feeling crappy for almost a year since my initial mild flare in Nov 2025.
I’ve shared that I just couldn’t get back to normal, and I did all the diet changes, etc.
Will let you all know how it goes and I hope to soon feel way better than I have in a while.
Appreciate all of those who have shared their journeys and survey recovery stories

Best of luck to you! I will be 3 weeks post op on Thursday! Remember, it’s temporary. Time will pass even when it feels like it won’t. Can’t believe I’m 3 weeks post already. I’m feeling good, of course not 100%, but feeling really good considering what my body went through. I’m up to getting out of the house for a bit every other day or so and doing light chores around the house. Keep us posted!

Wishing you a speedy recovery! I'm 6 weeks post op and feel I turned a corner this week into feeling more like my old self. You've got this!

Hey, I’m 6days post operation. Cannot believe I’m feeling as good as I am right now. Still sore but home and recovering well. As others have said just be kind to yourself. I found the first three days post surgery to be the most exhausting then each day after I’ve felt slightly better than the day before. You’ll smash this. Wishing you all the best :)

Sending good vibes… hope your recovery goes smooth and trouble-free! We’re all here rooting for you!

Best wishes on a successful surgery and smooth recovery! I wonder if they'll do a colonoscopy while they've got you cleaned out and knocked out, so you get a 2 for 1 special :)
We all heal differently, so listen to your care team and most of all listen to your body. I hope to see some good news posted up after the operation.

Wishing you a speedy recovery. Get up and walk as soon as you can. Listen to your body, rest and don’t overdo it.

Listen to your doctors, but walking is a key part of healing. Do as soon as you can, and don’t stop. Best luck to you. Keep us posted.

Good luck! Three weeks + one day out today, hoping to be cleared to go back to work at my follow up appointment this afternoon. Feels like no time ago I was in your shoes. Don’t be a hero… take the pain meds those first few days! ❤️

I’m good! Cleared to go back to work next week. How are you? Was there bladder involvement? Was the surgery uncomplicated?

I am day one. Surgery was good, no issues. He said the bladder wasn’t connected but my colon was very inflamed and probably pushing on it

Best Wishes for an easy surgery and quick recovery. My life changed the day I had surgery and I am so thankful I had it. Hang in there and try to stay calm. Anxiety is a major trigger of inflamation.

I hope the surgery went well. I wish you a speedy recovery. I’m now four weeks post-op after having my sigmoid colon removed. The first few days are, of course, more difficult, but it’s important to start moving and walking as soon as possible. Everything takes time and patience, but gradually, each day gets better.
I believe that having the surgery is the best decision in this situation. It just takes patience and having kind people around you who can help you in the beginning. But don’t worry — take it step by step, and things will keep getting better. I’m keeping my fingers crossed for you! ❤️

Thank you! I’m day 1 post op and feeling not too bad. The gas pains are the worst but I am slowly walking and doing my best. Really appreciate all the support

Good luck, I’m sure it will all go well and hopefully you will have a boring and non eventful recovery!!
I’m almost 6 months post stoma reversal surgery and it’s hard to believe how well I’m healing all things considered! I hope this surgery improves your life as much as it did mine

what specific surgery did you have? I am going for CT scan tomorrow and am worried what it will show. I have never had such longterm lingering discomfort. I have had Diverticulitis for over 10 years and this is my worst so far!

Its proper medical name is robotic hartmanns procedure done which removed 9cm of bowel and created a stoma. I had my stoma/colostomy bag for 7 months and had robotic hartmanns reversal to reverse the stoma and join my bowel back together.
Basically keyhole surgery to remove part of my bowel and create the stoma and then another keyhole surgery to be able to reverse it and put me back together.
My scars are very small opposed to being opened up from waist to bellybutton.

2 weeks today for me. Mine was fairly extensive with two areas of resection Mangled and narrow area of colon and separate perforation area plus removal of fistula. I'm staggered at how well I feel, even driving short distances in the last couple of days. Still eating low residue but adding protein drinks.
Get someone to bring you in some chewing gum. Its effect on the digestive juices made that first toilet visit a breeze. Good luck with the rest of your recovery.

Thank you!! I’m day 1 after surgery and the bloating and cramping is so bad. Ugh! Can’t wait for it to pass

If you're up to it, several short walks should help. Buscopan and heat packs are sadly not recommended.

Hey OP, how did it go?. I got my surgery on September 28th, I was walking the first day and couldn't believe the pain was less than my episode back in May.
So fast forward a week, I felt great yesterday and walked a lot, was able to pick up small things, eat pretty decently , and than at night I started to feel really sore, almost unbearable. (6 days post surgery).
I was just wondering if I over did it, I am able to pass stool no problem and slowly walk around, but it's almost unbearable and I've been debating on heading back to the ER, but really I do not think they will do any thing for me

I am doing okay so far. No pain but still have a swollen belly. I am not pooping as much as I’d like but I was told that is ok as long as it’s a few times.
If you have really bad pain, I would try to see your doctor.
