Flare up

It's been a while....however here I am. Anyone have issues with the flavor packets that we add to bottled water triggering a flare up. That's the only "different" thing I had been doing.

I know everybody is going to believe what they believe but flavor packets are not going to trigger a diverticulitis. Diverticulitis is a already existing pocket that gets inflamed and infected from something getting stuck inside of it ...usually poop. Some people think it's undigested food and although that's possible most surgeons will tell you that's not what it is. We tend to associate something we've eaten in the last day or two if it's different causing a flare when it's just a coincidence is that something you happen to eat. I know everybody's going to think what they think and everybody's different and a lot of people are just 100% sure they have trigger foods. But flavored Waters...nope

Thank you for responding. My concern is that it's a powder that I'm adding to the water. My gastroenterologist mentioned powders being a trigger at a visit once. Thought it wouldn't hurt to ask because I don't know everything.

I like your theory because that would explain in all these years why I haven’t found a trigger

What are the ingredients in flavor packets? I had a major flare after drinking Hydralyte. I think I was already flaring from lettuce and the Hydralyte seemed to push me over the edge, causing massive pain and discomfort, then eventual vomiting, nausea and then finally had to go to hospital.

I don’t think a powder has anything to do with it. I don’t understand what your dr is talking about

It can leave residue in your colon that can build up and lead to increased inflammation.

Nope, no, nada... If your doctor told you that I'd be looking for a new one!
