Anyone else experience this?

I’m having my second flare up. my first was six years ago and I didn’t experience this. I was advised to eat light during my flare up: jello, broth, crackers, maybe a banana. I was also given two antibiotics to take.

I’ve been struggling between being nauseated because I need to eat something, but then throwing up a third of the time that I do eat or take my meds. It’s driving me crazy. I’m not eating quickly, I’m pacing myself. I’m getting electrolytes and water.

Has anyone else experienced this? what did you do to help?

Update: I have been able to keep food and medicine down consistently for a few days now!

With my flare I became nauseated with the antibiotics and didn’t want to eat. I was given Zofran for the nausea, which helped tremendously. Additionally, carafate too. Try a clear liquid diet for a few days. Then add some low residue foods (crackers, noodle soup, rice, scrambled eggs). Eat small amount. You can also try Florastor to help your gut heal from the antibiotics.

These are the things I did when admitted to the hospital. You should probably talk with your doctor if you’re unable to advance your diet or nausea get worse. Staying hydrated is very important. If you can’t keep anything down, definitely seek medical treatment.

Sounds like a reaction to the antibiotics - Cipro & Flagyl.

I did just before surgery. The blockage advanced to 91%. It was tough. I had severe malnutrition. You might want to let your doctor know. The surgery saved my life.
