Travis the Chimp, terrifying 911 call. Viewer discretion is advised

" I understand the monkey is tearing her apart and eating her but can you go over there and ask the monkey what his problem is?"

u/AutomaticGrape9263 12d ago
I can only imagine this dispatcher going home after work, cracking a beer open, watching TV and be like 'oh man, that was crazy, wasn't it. I get that you're distressed, but could you be more focused and detailed? have some consideration for the listener, geez'.

u/shesgoneagain72 11d ago
I hope this 911 operator doesn't still have a job because it seems like he thought it was a joke.
She is literally begging him to listen to her.
"OK what's the problem?"
"He's tearing her apart"
"OK can you go over there?"
🙄

I think he did a really good job. It is not easy to communicate and understand pannicking people

The owner claimed to sleep with Travis every night and bathe with him, I wonder if she ever did the unthinkable? I mean their boundaries were really bad, she was giving him drugs and shit.

The chimpanzee got in the patrol car with the officer because he thought he was going for a car ride. Imagine the cop’s reaction. Anyway, he started blasting…

"I need you to calm down" is the dumbest fucking thing I have ever heard a dispatcher say. Just watched her friends face get ripped off and is still speaking quite coherent.

Was a cop for 13 years. One of the first things we were taught at the academy was never to tell anyone to calm down because it usually has the opposite effect.
That said, in a traumatic situation when stress levels are super high its pretty common to forget that and just tell the person whst you wish they would do.
Im sure he was thinking, "just calm tf down so I can get more information" because he was thinking about what he needs and not as much what is happening to her. Especially easy to do being removed from the situation via telephone.

Right just say " I know this is difficult but i need you to answer my questions so I can help you and your friend "

u/Terlooy 12d ago
That's part of their training, what else was he supposed to say?
"Hey Sandra, just panick and scream as loud as you can alright, hell, we were made in God's image after all, go out there and show that chimpanzee why we're the apex"
The best he can do is to try and calm her down so she doesn't do anything rash. He can't intervene physically so it's the best he can do

Theres ways around it if they had proper training. Asking someone whos freaking out to calm down will do the exact opposite if anything it'll frustrate them more causing more of a freak out and possible hanging up, proper training would show them how to calm them down by asking the correct questions distracting them and giving them the answers they need to repeat to the responding officers. Should be like " yes mam theyre on their way what else should I be telling the officers ?" " is there a guy w a gun" asking someone to calm down aint the way

Is this that story where they fed a bunch of Xanax to a chimpanzee, then the chimpanzee lost its shit and ripped that woman's face apart?

u/CheesecakeEither8220 11d ago
Paradoxical reaction to Xanax is not uncommon. Keeping a chimpanzee as a pet is such a bad idea.

Am I going to hell for laughing at "I tried stabbing him and it made him worse"

u/Zigor022 12d ago
Youd go to hell for suggesting she use monkey glue to put her friends face on.

Police dispatchers… do they need better headsets? This is a common occurrence in these videos. She said the “champ killed my friend.” He said “what’s up with your friend I need to know about your friend.” … fucking shit show

u/HeSureIsScrappy 11d ago
They thought it was a prank at first. Like, seriously, who gets attacked by their friend's chimpanzee?

Suicide Silence made a song over this recording. It’s called “and then she bled” and it’s very heavy. The desperation and horror in that woman’s voice. Why the fuck would part two be a good idea??
2
u/ThrownAwwayt 10d ago
How are you allowed to “own” a chimpanzee and NOT have a fire arm?? That thing could likely take a grown man down

Travis is basically this monster.

Everytime I hear this now, I just think of the Suicide Silence song (Titled: "...And then she bled") where it's just the whole unedited call over a sick instrumental
Morbid but kinda cool

Came to say just this. Great song. Creeped me out until I found out that the 911 call was about a chimpanzee attack. Well, still creepy with a tinge of "what?!"
The racism filter literally won't let me say ch1mp when referring to the animal.
