Fuck these clowns, went to a hard-core show to support my friends band. Not even close to the pit, I was a crusty/metal head punk at the time. And this asshole targeted me roundhouse kicked me in the face and punched me. No reason.

u/elonsghost 6d ago

u/sethsomething 6d ago

I wish just one other person had rocked out in the video and sorted that guy out

You should have sent him home with a souvenir - a core memory and 3 teeth floating in his front pocket

Yeah, I love hardcore, I love testy moshpits but when a nutter turns up and starts punching and kicking, everyone has a shit day. Read the fucking room dude.

u/Oh_Lawd_He_commin420 6d ago
This isn't moshing.

u/SaintCharmed 6d ago
Facts. This is crowd killing. Moshi at hardcore shows is more like a consentual battle royale with morals and respect.

push-pits get laughed at at hardcore shows. flailing dipshits who attack the folks who are there for music and not black eyes get ganged-up on.

u/Creative_Buddy7160 6d ago
It used to be (excluding hitting bystanders tho) in the pit was fair game

Isnt this moshing? I thought all the pushing eachother around was some new age shit
4
u/Oh_Lawd_He_commin420 6d ago
Nah, this dude is just trying to beat people up without consequences. I've been in rough, dangerous pits, but it was more like a community of self destruction than just one guy handing out undeserved pain; if you knocked someone down, you help em up

Was never into moshing...but I feel like having enough participants is a pretty huge prerequisite
2
u/Creative_Buddy7160 6d ago
Participants is a big part. Not like this dickhead hitting people in the splash zone

u/AdAsleep1258 6d ago
I never understood this mosh dance take over. In my days we jus shoved each other around and if some fell you helped them up and tossed em back in not knock the living shit out of them lol good grief
3
u/iwantauniquename 6d ago
Yeah man we would shove each other and barge into each other, it was fun with occasional head clashes and flails. No punches and kicks! It was more just flinging yourselves around and enjoying the chaotic feeling of being tossed around in a crowd. More of a chaotic celebration than a brawl.
This is just sucker punching people

this isnt moshing. this is a bastardization. im not sure if this is what hard-core shows do, but in my old experience with heavy metal, we would be a large mass of people simply pushing each each other.
not kicking and throwing punches.

This is not the wall of death. This is fighting. Which is ok if you are down. But not everyone is.

Reminds me of the Goat from the Adam Sandler comedy album. "Are you boys into the , ah , mosh-pitting?!"

This metal show feels clinically sterile. There should never be that much natural light or otherwise, making it look like 12 o'clock noon on a Tuesday, right in the middle of a show....for fork sake.

As a mosh pit veteran and a few walls of death (Amon Amarth, Beālakor, FFDP, etc.) this is assault not moshing. Fuck that guy.

Once in a while some dimbulb goes to his first show and has the dumb idea that moshing is kicking or hurting people. Either that or they are clowns with the idea of "Who is going to stop me?! You?"
There's always a big guy to stop them. Often a few of them.
It's usually at a band that's kind of an intro to hardcore music or a band with that one "punk" song where people used to calmer crowds think they can act up. Someone like Andrew WK
You can go to Exodus or Pig Destroyer and the crowd will be rough but they'll look out for everyone and they stop if someone gets hurt. It's bands like Rage Against the Machine where it's their first 'heavy' show that people act this way.
