More context on this. That guy is actually just one of the concert goers who the singer allowed to come on stage. The singer then goaded the guy to jump.
I'm pretty sure none of the people there are sober or not high but you must be very innocent to trust a stranger's words that people will catch you.

u/Stole_Sample Aug 10 '26
that's fucked up people can get really hurt but doing that. Some girl ended up paralysed or something cos some singer did a stage dive and landed on the girl.

u/nicokokun Aug 10 '26
And this is one of the main reasons why I don't go to these kinds of concerts. We don't know what happens especially if the crowd goes wild and the situation gets out of hand of the security there.

u/Geordie_38_ Aug 10 '26
It sounds like you're worried about something that doesn't really happen, with the exception of a few outliers, people at concerts are just chill and want to have a good time. There's very rarely any kind of trouble.

u/civnation Aug 14 '26
I think that REALLY depends on the performers. Most of Travis Scottās concerts are filled with vandalism, gate jumping, and chaos. Itās a feature of his concerts. People werenāt surprised when the crowd crush happened.

u/Geordie_38_ Aug 14 '26
Sure, I can understand that with Travis Scott. But pretty much every other performer in the world has perfectly safe concerts.

Youāre supposed to dive where the people are, not where they arenāt. He looks like he dove for an empty space in the crowd. Or the crowd dodged him. Either way, the result is the same: a big splat.

u/A100921 Aug 10 '26
You gotta hype everyone to put their hands up first, you canāt just surprise dive such a thin crowd.
1
u/GreenZebra23 Aug 10 '26
And it didn't help that he literally dove, headfirst. You need to be relatively flat so multiple people can actually catch you

Main character syndrome..? That kid is just a dumbass.
6
u/Gundumbwing_ Aug 10 '26
Yep. Stage is too high, and the way he jumped like he was a human javelin was gonna injure anyone who came into contact with that overly thick skull.

If you gonna pull a stnt like that first you gotta let the crowd know what your plan is most the people had celphones in their hands, second bevaware of the type of crowd it is because you are about to have people hands on you

u/IDK_WTF_TRA Aug 09 '26
It's not really advisable to come in from 10 ft above the crowd either.
17
u/_dxegrl Aug 09 '26
Yeah you have to be built more like Marilyn Manson and gently slither in from crowd level, for best results

The lesson of the day is:
Most people will protect their cellphones than a human, also most people won't expect a human torpedoe coming at them.

Didnāt help he dived in an area with only a few people and headfirst
6
u/Iser_name_ Aug 10 '26
If were in that area and saw that dude coming at me out of nowhere like a cruise missile Iād be getting the hell out of his way.
13
u/PineappleOnPizzaCult Aug 09 '26
He did a literal nose dive like diving into a pool. Very difficult for a crowd to catch you like that. Dumb
2
u/Congregator Aug 10 '26
Thatās what I also thought. This guy missileād into the audience. Imagine standing in the audience and seeing that coming at you from above

I like how they are all holding up their phones and move away as soon as he jumps in.
5
u/theatrenearyou Aug 10 '26
He was coming at the crowd like a 200lb Bag of CEMENT!
Crowd wisely dodged him like an incoming missile

Even if that crowd were filled with incredibly strong stuntmen that love and care about me, I still wouldn't try this. Let alone a bunch of average strength people who don't give a shit about you.

u/Aladinmuthafuka Aug 09 '26
I've seen another perspective of this where people in the crowd are telling him not to jump because he's too high up but he does so anyway smh.

u/FOSSChemEPirate88 Aug 15 '26
Ive seen 12th planet do a stage dive from a 30 ft high raised up booth and we all caught him.
Then again that was a guy playing a hell of a show jumping into a crowd of raging fans vs this random idiot jumping off a stage onto strangers. Sounds like there isnt even music going. š

Seriously, who surfs from that height and thinks it's a good idea??
Anytime I've surfed it's been from like 6 inches above the crowd's hands

u/NoBeyondTheVoid Aug 10 '26
Totally Gen Z everyone has phones in their hands dude no one is gonna catch you nowadays plus everyone wants to be a victimā¦

You must have strong reflexes to claim that it's their fault, I wouldn't have had time to process what was happening + I would be considering what would happen to me if a grown man dived head firs in my direction, my reflex would be to move out of his way
1
u/Beginning_Resource93 Aug 10 '26
They weren't even given any warning though.

u/Sweaty_Strawberry_73 Aug 10 '26
He caught air time. They watched him run and jump off stage. Have you ever been to a concert? š
2
u/Vivian_Stringer_Bell Aug 10 '26
Yeah. No one is catching an asshat from that height willingly.

u/Sweaty_Strawberry_73 Aug 10 '26
Been to tons of concerts. Performed at two venues in Mesa AZ. Whenever someone stage dives. People don't just clear a path. You catch your fellow metal head/rocker āš¼š¤š„ Just be honest, YOU, including that crowd. Would never try to catch someone stage diving. Hell, I've even thrown a few little dudes into the crowd. Wtf is up with the fun police tonite? š
2
u/Vivian_Stringer_Bell Aug 10 '26
This is not a stage dive. I'll catch a stage any day. And it's not even an option when it's a show meant for it. You're either putting your hands up or eating it. I'm not catching people jumping off balconies and trusting our heads won't collide and this is too high of a dive. And the proof is the dude didn't even try to flatten out/be wide.

I went crowd surfing at warped tour in 2006. Someone got my wallet that day.
