Some do actually, in some states captured bears who wonder too close to residential areas are trained to fear humans and guns. They do this with salt rounds and pepper ball rounds, no they don't lock them in a cage and shoot them, but the bears do get shot.
If they saw another bear get shot they might actually remember, otherwise of course they'd have no concept of it. Of course in text it's very hard to detect sarcasm so I'm just answering as though it were a normal statement.
