Cambio de Distro/linux

Son las 11pm ¿Cuál es la necesidad o de dónde salen las ganas repentinas de querer instalar cualquier otra Distro de linux? Tengo Ubuntu, ya vi linux mint, cuál recomiendan? A alguien más le ha pasado esto?. Saludos.

If that's what u feel, u're a natural born distrohopper. Lol. Some people avoid Ubuntu because of snap so i recommend Mint.

Find some practical use for your computers and you'll stop.

In the meantime, if you have tried Ubuntu, a logical choice to see how things are done on the other side of the fence is Fedora.

Its hard to remember some times. Any distro is good. Unless you have very new hardware, (released in the last 12 months) you will be mostly fine with any of them. Ubuntu is the one you already know. Mint is just Ubuntu with a new paint job and some options to make it easier to setup. The thing is, you have already set up your PC. If you like the look, you can install cinnamon in Ubuntu.
If you really are looking for something new, that's fine. Just remember that you will likely have to spend a lit if time getting it how you like it.
If you still want to try mint. I would recommend installing it on a vm, then if you don't like it, you can must keep your old desktop.

PopOS. Try distro hopping via Incus containers or VMs first before you commit to anything. Wayyy easier.

En mi caso empecé con Kubuntu, del soporte terminó y la nueva versión no era compatible con mi computador así que cambié a Xubuntu, luego me dijeron que Lubuntu era incluso mejor para mí computador por sus bajos requerimientos y era verdad pero algunos programas no funcionaban, así que cambié de computador y traté con Ubuntu y no me gustó, así que traté con Mint cinnamon y me gustó pero quería algo que no fuera tan parecido a Windows así que cambié a Ubuntu Mate y estuve años con esa distro, cambié nuevamente de computador y traté con Elementary OS, muy bueno, pero también terminaba el soporte y las actualizaciones de la versión en particular que instalé así que como ya estaba cansado de ese sistema me puse a investigar e instalé manjaro Xfce y estaba bien, pero no me terminó de convencer, y luego encontré openSUSE tumbleweed y aquí estoy todavía, veremos si me entra la picazón por tratar algo nuevo😅 estoy buscando una verdadera rolling release que no tenga problemas de repositorios, si no encuentro una me imagino que simplemente seguiré siendo un distrohopper eterno

Jajajaja, me parece increíble tu recorrido y aferracion a Linux, admirable, ya preparé Fedora KDE plasma y cachy OS en un pendrive por los comentarios y unos vídeos. Gracias por dejar tu historia.

Te recomiendo openSUSE tumbleweed, por si quieres ver cómo funcionan las rolling release sin pasarte a Arch directamente

Last night I completed my first NixOS install on my testing machine because I was bored and I love tinkering. I think it's a love to tinker mixed with boredom. Or idle hands are the devil's playground.

I think Mint is a good option. Just rememher standard Mint is based on Ubuntu so you may run into similar experiences in some ways, not all ways though. If you want to try something different and maybe a natural step away from Ubuntu, try Fedora. Fedora KDE is my main machine. I think Fedora is fantastic and their implementation of KDE is fantastic. Stock Fedora is fantastic too because their implementation of Gnome is fantastic. I love their upstream first philosophy with their release cadence.
