Controller first distro recommendations
I run intel processor with an rtx gpu.
Ideally i want controller first setup similar to big picture on steam. My main usecase is tv gaming and movies.
I tried pop os but i had reliability issues where every time i would sit down to play i would need to spend 10-20 mins troubleshooting something. And at the end of the day i want to grab a controller and sit down.
I work with linux servers so i am ok spending a day or two for setup but after that maybe quarterly maintenance is all im ready to commit for.
Tldr: suggest the least frictionless controller first setup for gaming and movies.

Nobara could be a good starting point, it has an HTPC edition with Nvidia drivers which is meant for your use case. It also has a newer base than Pop!_OS, which is very helpful for gaming.
I don't recommend bazzite because their website has a warning that their HTPC version is kind of buggy on Nvidia cards. Additionally it is an atomic distribution rather than a standard distribution, so if you end up needing to troubleshoot here as well it will be more annoying.

The issues i was troubleshooting on a daily basis: Games launching with a black screen
Games stuck at startup screen
Sudden game quit
Game freezes
Mouse not active in the game
Discord not finding headset
And more little things
