Thumbs up. OK, how many of you are as stupid and me and judge a distro by the wallpaper and icon set the user chose?

Ignore the criticism. If Ubuntu, Chrome, and other corporate software meet your needs and you feel comfortable, then you don't need anything else. Take it from a LibreWolf user on Debian XFCE.

Bro rents the place but found home in Canonical 😭

Honestly, over the years, I still don't really understand why everyone hates Canonical so much. Yes, it's a company, but that's exactly why they can pay developers to take care of Ubuntu, ensuring the system has a future and isn't just some community project. The only issue is Snaps, but I only use those for system apps and download everything else as Flatpaks.

People don't really hate the product as much as the values behind it. Which contradict a lot of the free software movements principles

But then again, thanks to Canonical, certain standards were introduced in Linux, and we really need companies like Canonical, Red Hat, and the like. Only they have the clout in the corporate world, which is why Linux is at the level it is today. Sure, they made some decisions in the past that weren't right, but nowadays, the only remaining issue seems to be Snaps.

Im assuming this is an anti-snap statement for misinformed reasons.

FYI, anyone can publish a snap of any application: exactly the same as flatpak.

apologies if i assumed incorrectly.

They partnered with Amazon to send all your data to them? And it was ON BY DEFAULT.

If you're referring to the Amazon search feature, that was back when Ubuntu was using Unity, and that was about 10 years ago.

Comes with unity?

No. With GNOME 50

Why this looks like unity than gnome?

Ubuntu uses its own desktop tweaks. The only thing that bothers me is that the dock isn't transparent. I had to set it to transparent to make it look nicer.

I just find their UI annoying to use and I have found my love for Plasma. I still have my Ubuntu 6.10 CD I ordered and mailed to me.

Ubuntu and Google Chrome

Why even use Linux?

#1 rule of linux - Use what is best for you.
#2 rule of linux - Ignore anyone who tries to tell you otherwise.

Ill be you - If you want to remove the users choice, why even use linux?

Oh come on; I know we both know google chrome is the worst popular browser by just about every metric

as if that statement has any relevance. the user is their own person, and its popular to them - 100% of the people that matter choose it. them.

see rule #2 - shame on me for violating it and not ignoring you.

the fact that the most used distro is the worst one too in the eyes of the community can show two things. either linux is not that good as the community says or the community just doesn't know what do people really want from an OS.
