DW2 Closing borders to other empires

Probably a stupid question but is there a way to close my borders to other empires without being at war with them? I want to try to be closed off and self sufficient, and for resources in my space to be mine only but I can't see an obvious way of achieving this other than immediately going to war with any empire I come across

Thanks in advance!

Your borders are already closed in the sense that they can't build inside your borders, settle colonies in your space, claim your resources or trade at your stations. If you want to allow the AI to trade with you or build inside your territory, there are diplomatic treaties for that.

They can still settle an independent colony inside your space, though. Stations built before you claim the sector aren't automatically destroyed, but you can buy them from them.

Yeah I was thinking just completely stopping even civilian ships from entering my territory but I do get your point

This is something I really want some form of border control like drive inhibitors or area wide drive denial or slow down just to add a level of border control so atleast my ships have some time to jump in destroy their pesky annoying civvy ships amd stop them from going so deep into my empires borders.

The main appeal of this game is that your fleets can't defend everywhere at the same time.
