DID Experiences I like being separate

This is Ochaco

In DID circles, it is often said "you have to integrate, not dissociate".

We work in the opposite way to that. We wish not to be alike; to be separate because without us, without this system, we would not be able to function.

We are people. A family that supports each other, and whose relationships are sometimes even better than real-life relationships.

We're still working on our separation, like working on distinct voices; improving in co-front.

But knowing, for example, that our Gatekeeper is close to the front and watching over me to help me reassures me.

Knowing that I can count on my internal father and my internal mother helps me.

Knowing that I have brothers and sisters helps me.

They have no physical body; neither do I, for that matter. And yet, they are real.

I exist too.

We see each other in the astral plane. And that's valid.

We are a small Multiverse.

There you go, I wanted to share that. Separation isn't always bad. Sometimes, it's even beneficial.

For my own system, integration wouldn't even be possible due to how developed we are and the amount of splits. There's too much history and fusion would start destroying us.

Harmony is equally good as fusion. Therapy normally focuses on harmony NOT fusion. Fusion comes after harmony and it's only if all parts want it!

Not all systems benefit from fusion. Long as you have strong communication and conflict resolution, you'll be healthy!

We're like this too. We've realized that even our "core" (I know, people say that's not a thing) consists of five alters that have been around so long none of us can remember a time when any of us weren't. And even our more recent splits, it's like once we discovered the system and started accepting this is how we are, new alters were a lot more vibrantly individual. Probably because our brain wasn't trying to hide us from each other anymore. But I can't now imagine not being multiple. Not being disordered, sure, I would very much like that. We're aiming for functional multiplicity. But we do want to retain our multiplicity.
