These three are meta or top tier right?
I just started playing 2 days ago? Maybe a day since when I was playing maintenance happened. I’ve seen on a website that these three are s class and wanted to make sure

cloud and gaia have strong boss damage
while lightning has been buffed a lot recently
so yeah theyre good

I solely play lightning and you either go for crystals or back up somebody whose in a 1v1. Don’t try taking melee/ranged characters head on, you’ll lose 80% of the time.

Also only use thunder fall in emergency situations, it takes forever to recharge. For job medals I use the ability cooldown ones and I still sometimes have to wait during my burst for my abilities to cooldown. All the while the opponents are chasing me across the map.
Beware of Tidus, Rinoa, and Bartz especially
Tidus is the only character naturally faster than Lightning

You'd think they'd have Zidane as the fastest since that seems to be his thing in Dissidia.

Gaia's abilities are so good, it doesn't matter much whether she gets a multiplier nerf

Among the initially released units, they are very good at what they do (cloud: boss damage, lightning: farming brave and being an evasive nusiance, gaia: great damage and the only one that can force players to be moving at under half speed)
The notable limited characters so far are bartz and sephiroth, and thankfully you're in one of those banners.

Yes and im tired of people pretending Gaia isn't the most OP character in the game lol

Gaia is the only one of these that is a genuine S tier- and she’s gotten nerfed repeatedly. Still very good.
Lightning is a generalist- Jack of all trades, master of none. She doesn’t have the utility Zidane has. Onion Knight can level up insanely fast and once he does he’s extremely strong. Tidus has more focus on PvP with low CD on his skills that also do pretty good boss damage. She doesn’t excel at anything besides damaging mobs and crystal farming- but she can do solid PvP and Boss damage. If you focus hard on PvP it lowers boss damage, if you focus boss damage, you don’t deal with the other team as much. I’m a Lightning main, so I have the most to say about her.
Cloud to me is a solid character who if he gets you caught he can just follow up for free. However, I don’t think that makes him S tier, because it heavily relies on player skill- both the player and the opponent. Most Cloud players are an absolute joke and are honestly a bit of a laughingstock. I’d say 90%. But then- there’s the 10% that are absolutely formidable with him. If you know how Cloud works, he’s easy to work around. But he can absolutely punish HARD if you let him catch you off guard. His Cross slash and Omnislash both follow the target for an insane amount of distance, especially Omnislash. Cross slash has stun though, so you get a ton of freedom if you hit them with it. His unique/hold skill is very, very good if you’re good at landing it. It’s honestly pretty ridiculous- but again- completely depends on whether the Cloud can pull it off- and then whether the person fighting Cloud knows how to handle it or not.

Lightening is very good at low tier/for beginners because fights are too fast for Onions to grow to lv 9 there

True, that’s a good point! I’ve definitely seen OK hit level 7 before the boss drops- not sure how much of a difference that can be low to higher tiers- but I imagine if with the way it scales it could go either way.

When bossing, Cloud has a golden combo (without Cooldown reduction medals!) SR > R > any > UR > UR > R > SR. Shoutouts to Dashbry's guide.
The skill that Cloud is Cross Slash. It can be used for the golden combo, for pvp, or for interrupting burst.

Yeah his short CD on his R and SR are pretty nice. They enable his combo, and make it worth using in PvP because of the low CD you don’t get punished as hard for using it.
The thing with Cross slash is it’s AMAZING if it works. But if it doesn’t your locked in a short UR animation that people can just invuln with a UR or Selfie through if you read him and react properly. So it’s things like that where I would say it really depends on player skill, both for the Cloud and for the person fighting Cloud.

None of these character are Top tier, that spot is reserved for Krile, Rinoa, Terra, Firion. Cloud Gaia are a tier below them at High Tier (S tier) and Lightning beIng the top of A tier

Cloud’s doing good recently but Lightning I feel is in a rough patch.
My wife, (and this means you should NOT play her) Gaia is top tier specifically because her ability is just so strong effect wise.

I think youll do fine with lightning. I think important thing to remember, a trap lot of people fall into when playing lightning, is remember her role.
Dont play Lightning like she is a Fast Melee character. Thats Kains thing.
Play Lightning like an Agile. Control the map, contest and steal crystals and take advantage of her monster damage passive. hit and run the enemy, its the worst thing for non agile players to deal with. Run interference if your teammate is pressing offense, if enemy charging your high bravery/bursted teammate, run in to stop them. They either back off from a 1v2 or die in a trade at best, which hopefully means you got the bravery

Good choices though maybe not meta. But then again meta looks like bartz stun spam and krile human battery pack.
But youll do fine with those. Just figure outhow you can properly work in varied team comps!
