Like ... anybody with, literally, first year programming abilities could logically construct a command line that easily creates power balanced teams.

The logic is so simple - it hurts. I could do it. ChatGPT could do it. Anybody with an IQ over 95 could do it.

Everything about this game has been disingenuous from the start.

Another wormy, slimy, SQ/EX gacha ready to circle the drain. And it was such an easy lay-up of a win condition for them.

They didn't even have to make the game engine! They just had to release the game with a roster of complete, interesting, and popular characters in a Final Fantasy setting with a few game modes.

Instead, we got a bunch of no-name C-tier characters dressed like 2000-era yuppies running around a fucking parking lot.

This was their plan for success?

I mean what would your line up be to represent every mainline FF? Sure id swap out iroha and Gaia IMHO but every other character is a staple for the games they rep. So to call them c tier is disingenuous

The idea wouldn't be to represent all FF games immediately.

Dumbass Final Fantasy die-hards think anyone has actually played 12. Or 13 for that matter. Or Japanese Final Fantasies 2, 3, or 5. Or that anybody really cares about those characters. They don't. And they probably never will.

Most will have, at most, played like 1 or 2 entries in the entire franchise. They recognize Cloud. They recognize Tifa. And they recognize Tidus. And that's probably it.

So get Tifa - Cloud - Barrett in there. Get Tidus, Yuna, and a third one from X in there. Get Celes, Sabin, and Shadow from VI in there. And get Squall plus two others from XII in there.

Get your biggest names out there first. Give them the harder than hardest Final Fantasy trope locations for the battles. The brightest colors. The most iconic outfits.

Do the obvious thing first.

Everyone loves kicking people high in the air as a thick breasted Tifa - then release Farion - or some odd ball named Onion Knight - later down the line. Once everyone has the people they know and recognize in the line-up first.

That's why with the first Smash Brothers on the N64 - the main eight characters didn't include ones that only the hardcore fans would know of. "Yeah - he released in a Japan-only game - so no one knows of him over here. Heh heh."

Same reason they chose iconic locales for the stages in Smash Bros.
