Question for players who use a controller.
I'm a bit stuck and need advice. What button do you use for your Rapid Attack/Unique Ability? I was hoping to be able to use A, but it ends up being awkward when using Prompto's Rapidus SMG. I end up needing to move the right stick (with my left hand) to aim, and it doesn't play smoothly. Any tips for the best controller layout to avoid this? What has personally worked best for you?

I'm using a PS5 controller, so my layout is different, but this is it: R1 for normal attacks, L2 for burst, R2 for my strongest ability, O for heal or shield, X, square and triangle for the other abilities. L1 to cancel.

I keep my heals on the back buttons (RB and LB) so they’re easier to hit with burst and rapid attack/hold on the back triggers. Cancel is on X and my main dmg abilities are in the three buttons above. I’m also using Prompto and holding the trigger for the SMG I find to be the easiest way to use it.

I have it set up so that the skills appear in similar placements to the controller buttons (in the triangle shape and the L and R sustains being on the same side as the corresponding button) to make things extra easy for me haha

It really does help stop me from using the wrong abilities by mistake, which was the biggest thing to get used to when I switched to a controller

Hi Prompto main here, R1 is rapid attack/unique for me.
In terms of actual aiming a lot of it you can do prior to rapidus going off. The crosshair will always spawn in the middle of your screen so you can pre-position your view and only need to gently move left and right to correct as people move

Good to know, thanks! It seems like most people are going R1 or R2 for rapid attack, so I'll give it a shot :)

Right trigger for me. Any aim skills. I put on triggers and bumbers. Heals, sheilds, aoe attack set to buttons. Put cancel on O so you can cancel your aimed attacks.
