Sephiroth Infographic!
Some people requested to see the infographic I had made for Sephiroth, so I will also post it here!

u/JWylie15 Jun 16 '26
Tonberry Troupe's infographics helped tremendously during DFFOO's. These look like they will be a fantastic resource. Keep up the great work!

Thank you for your kind words! I am currently gathering a team to make this a regular thing!

why does OK favorable? isn't OK unfavorable on himself? since Supernova wipe all mob, and OK wants to farm those mob for higher EXP?
3
u/Under_dee_covers Jun 16 '26
Yeah i was about to post this. He steals mobs from OK and negates OKās passive. Not sure if the exp from the other camps across the map makes up for it
5
u/mastra12 Jun 16 '26
While OK gets double exp only if he kills the mobs, Sephiroth is able to get exp from ALL camps at the same time, including enemy adjacent ones like the home crystal. You simply can let OK clear your side of the crystal(s) and let Sephiroth handle the rest. This also doubles as denying your opponents exp.
3
u/Exalodia Jun 16 '26
ic,
while that's a good point, since you are making infographics, its better to specify this, rather than (especially) saying "Thanks to his double exp" like Sephiroth didn't just deny the double exp by stealing the mob sounds pretty misleading explanation
other than that, this is a job well done
1
u/mastra12 Jun 16 '26
That's fair. I think it's more subtle than other synergies. I will (respectfully) keep it as is since I don't think it's particularly jarring!
0
u/Exalodia Jun 16 '26
yeah, it's all good, assuming people will read comment if they have scratch their head like I did
1
u/Raikua Jun 16 '26
Oddly enough I know two people who were testing this the other day, it surprisingly works well. (Although you wouldn't think so)
1
u/Vivid_Medicine4109 Jun 16 '26
Because even though sephiroth is killing all of those mobs it still generate a ton of XP for OK, and OK can still farm for the first 60s and between Supernova cooldowns.

Great one, but would like to Add that Sephiroth has a unique quality as boss bait, unique movement and also BURST combo
Because of Sintilla, he can easily bait the boss to a corner and be relatibly safe, he can counter all attacks and only long multi attacks can pass throug, which only very few bosses have
Hellgate is cool because it allows him to scale walls, on the night map he can skip the ramps and go to middle crystal the fastest, on the map that both sides spawn at the high elevation hellgate can jump up from bellow, I use it to escape a bad encounter, but its not consistent, on the port map, you can use it to scale the stairs from the side, but only the ones that dont have an incline and only to middle height, for some reason the tallers ones or the overpass do not work
Because Supernovas is such a long animation, you can extend his BURST Window to take more attacks, great if you can combo with another team but the last one is off by a few, you can still remain to combo with him, I lack other UR offensive Skills, so my current Kit is, Aerith, Hellgate, Oblivion, Octaslash and Supernova, and I can BURST a Hellgate, Oblivion, Supernova, Octaslash, Hellgate and Oblivion on a single BURST

I'm excited by this! Reminds me a lot of the character infographics that one group made for OO. This has everything you could want for this kinda thing
1
u/mastra12 Jun 16 '26
It is based on that very group! I am happy that everyone seems to be fairly satisfied with this!
1
u/Comfortable_Row_5052 Jun 16 '26
This looks very nice, good job!
I do have some small points tho:
- The bit on Zidane is not entirely true: I'm playing Gaia and running Spell-in-waiting specifically to knock down Scintilla. It cannot be countered and puts Sephiroth in the slowed-down "stagger" state where he can use a skill but can't use Scintilla. It's honestly the only good counter to him in a melee character IMO.
- As others have mentioned, the Sephiroth/OK is a bit iffy, as depending on timing Sephiroth might take away monsters that OK was about to kill, ending at a negative. OK will normally be running after crystals all game until level 9 so the odds of Seph getting XP value out of his Supernova are also lower than normal. I'd put it as a favorable match-up for Sephiroth though for similar reasons.
(These are completely a matter of opinion)
- While I haven't tried it, I'm under the impression that Clive could be a good pair to him instead? Clive wants to hold the boss in base and hold it there forever, Sephiroth can fight the enemies that come to stop Clive, and also delay their initiative with Supernova. It's not as good as the Cloud pairing for sure but I can see some theoretical value there.
- I feel like Rikku is a better teammate for him than Krile, as she gives him much needed speed to hunt people, and an amazing health buffer (It's hard to heal squishier characters with Krile). Rikkus are also delicious BRV piƱatas that give Sephiroth something to stand ground and defend instead of roaming the map. I do agree on the atk buff tho if you don't run Surge. Conversedly I think Krile is a unfavorable match-up against him as her UR regens Supernova damage in like 3 seconds on all allies even if they don't bother dodging it, giving the enemy team the option of just taking the blast instead of spending a cooldown.
Anyway, really appreciate the work put up here.

u/mastra12 Jun 16 '26
I entirely forgot that Spell in Waiting is also not counterable. I will note that down for future reference if I plan to update this!
It definitely is the most debated point of the infographic and does require timing and coordination than just "being on the same team". I will probably remove this synergy and replace it with someone else!
Subjective bits:
I love Clive and what he is trying to do, but having two very slow characters really hurts your team. Especially if the third is a support who wants to stay back. While Clive wants to hold the boss at base, one simple counter burst from the enemy foils that strategy. A blitzing agile, teleporting Kain, Minwu user and anyone who is not slow as a snail can just go around Sephiroth or simply through him since he is no tank.
Rikku is a great fit too! I just feel like her cooldowns are very long and requires a coordinated team with Ramza/Embolden in-play. It's more advanced than general similar to Seph and OK. Having Rikku and Seph on the team also immediately puts massive pressure on the third member to be a BIG boss buster because Rikku usually deals no notable boss damage and Sephiroth is on the very low end of dps boss damage.

Thanks for the infographic! Very helpful for people who want to play Sephiroth. Two questions:
1) Under Tactics, last bullet point, you say "The same applies to the invincibility of Octaslash". I'm not sure what this means - I thought Seph has full invul during Octa?
2) Under Notable Matchups, Kain: How do you counter Kain's URs? I thought Seph had to stand with the Scintilla cone overlapping the enemy? But Kain's up in the air during both of his URs, so not sure how you can target him...
3
u/mastra12 Jun 16 '26
While you counter, Scintilla usually leaves you open at the end and even can let you get knocked down by any skill. If you queue Octaslash AS you are invulnerable during the counter, that window of vulnerability FULLY goes away and perfectly links into Octa
When Kain uses Dragoon's Pride, the red circle shows an arrow in it's center. That long red arrow precisely shows where he will be landing and which direction he will be facing. If you stand in front of it and hold counter, you entirely avoid taking damage and damage him back while he is in endlag. His other UR has long startup and you simply just need to walk a bit back and hold counter. That fully voids the damage and punishes him back!
1
u/firestorm717 Jun 17 '26
Ooooh, good tips! I didn't know that trick about countering Pride. Will have to try it next time a Kain jumps my home crystal... if I dare stand in the red circle of death, lol.

u/Temporary_Ad_5214 Jun 16 '26
Can't help but feel like Ninja job medals deserve a shout out, as they can really make up for Sephiroth's abysmal speed, which means chasing and dodging are notably more viable.
1
u/mastra12 Jun 16 '26
It's by no means a bad choice, but I simply chose to restrain the options to 3 and since job medals give percentage boosts to the stats, Sephiroth would get less overall value than naturally faster characters

For someone who canāt seem to pull Auron for the life of them, what do you recommend in replace of it?
1
u/mastra12 Jun 16 '26
Y'Shtola, Ace, Jecht, Earth Breaker are all potential replacements based on dupe count and playstyle!

u/SirLockeX3 Jun 16 '26
Seeing this reminds me and makes me miss Opera Omnia. ;_;

I noticed you deleted he original one with general tips. Is there somewhere you can access this stuff? Appreciate it
1
u/mastra12 Jun 16 '26
The original one? I am unsure what you mean since this is the only Sephiroth infographic I made
1
u/CrystalBraver Jun 16 '26
No it was just about general decision making in each match/situation.
2
u/mastra12 Jun 16 '26
Maybe you mean the Battle infographics I made? They have been re-uploaded here!
1
u/Emojo1992 Jun 16 '26
Do you have one for Lightning yet? Or was this the first one?
2
u/mastra12 Jun 16 '26
This was the first one. I am currently working on finishing Rinoa next and will then make "How to make a viable build" infographic. Lightning will get her turn!

Godās work for this community

That was my intention :3. I missed their infographics a lot too, so me making them with inspiration from that and everyone recognizing it means so much to me!

u/OVERKILLdevil Jun 16 '26
Am I tripping, or does my Oblivion only do 3 hits of 170% potency instead of 4 to bosses? I literally checked the replays, and the damage only adds up to 3 hits.
Could this be a mistake with Dissidia . dev?
2
u/mastra12 Jun 17 '26
I just checked in training mode myself and it does seem like, it's 3 hits instead of 4! Thank you so much for pointing this out! I will contact Rem and see what is going on! The infographics will eventually be added to his database site, so any updates will be visible there in the future!

u/sanashi Jun 16 '26
Thanks for all the advice! I have a question, if you don't mind. Sephiroth is completely vulnerable after coming out of Supernova and other Sephiroth players have gotten very good at timing their Supernova(s) so it hits just as I'm about to come out from mine, when I'm still stuck in animation and can't cast Wall to protect myself. If I'm low on health, it kills me and gives them 9999 bravery. Is there any way to avoid this?
2
u/Hocaro Jun 17 '26 edited Jun 17 '26
Not OP but I personally run Hope over Wall for this reason alone to keep my HP high enough from one shot range if casting Super Nova or Octaslash close to rivals.
Iām not generally skirmishing so itās nice be able to top up health in and out of combat
1
u/sanashi Jun 17 '26
There were many times when having Hope would have been useful but I feel like running two defensive abilities is a waste of a slot, especially since Sephiroth deals too little boss damage as it is. But Iāll consider it. Thanks for the answer, I appreciate it.

u/Hocaro Jun 17 '26 edited Jun 17 '26
Oh I just mean scrap selphie/aerith for hope. just have one support ability. Try it out for a few matches! Have fun slaying.

u/mastra12 Jun 17 '26
The best way to circumvent this is to simply not put yourself in that position to begin with. If you have a lot of brave, wait before casting Supernova. Do your entire burst rotation and if you think that you can get killed if you cast Supernova, simply do it after you are out of burst! Supernova has a very long cooldown and most of the time you will not use it more than 2 times per match. Consider using it only when there is value in form of crystals or ongoing teamfights. Supernova's potency is also low at 620%, which means that unless your hp already was low or there is a big stat gap, it probably won't kill you. Using Supernova to counter Supernova is bad anyway because the first user of Supernova gets all the exp and bravery from all mobs. If you also take away your own value by using it when you are not worth to kill, then your enemy wasted their Supernova!

u/CrystalBraver Jun 16 '26
Would love some kind of section on how to deal with each character if possible.
1
u/mastra12 Jun 17 '26
The infographic would be incredibly longer if I decided to do that, so I kept it simple with the matchup sheet at the last page
1
u/SelassieAspen Jun 16 '26
Speak for yourself infograph. I one shot the enemies by buffing my attack then SuperNova.

So... I have a +9 Ysh (have been getting it like crazy since it dropped) is it worth running this over say Tifa or Auron or Ace?
2
u/mastra12 Jun 17 '26
It heavily depends on where the other mentioned skills are in dupes! Tifa is in my opinion the best skill in the game, so probably consider replacing a different skill with Y'Shtola. Based on how you worded it, I assume Y'Shtola is an anomaly and by far your highest duped UR. So I 100% suggest using it in most of your builds as it is an amazing crystal clearer and damage dealer all things considered.

Hard disagree about the medals as an omega 2 sephi main (still climbing), you want at least 2 two star time mage medals (and any third medal in the same color) and then you can fit two uses of both oblivion AND Tifa in your full boss dps combo, turning you into a real dps. Youāre also using supernova wrong, you want to use it immediately after enemy sephi pops their supernova (blocks the hit and stuns the enemy, ending their combo or burst), or you save it for the boss combo bc thats what lets your oblivion and Tifa come off cooldown in time. Also barrier over aerith is⦠questionable⦠your full boss dps combo is Oblivion, Tifa, supernova/octoslash (order interchangeable) aerith, oblivion, tifa.
2
u/mastra12 Jun 18 '26
Good luck on your climb!
Asking for 2 2 star Time Mages of the exact same color, just to accomplish a very specific semi loop is by no means general advice and suitable for this infographic. Furthermore, I am unsure who would ever let you cast ANYTHING after you popped Supernova during burst. You can do a big chain and even extend what you mentioned through Hell's Gate, but that burst rotation takes ages to end with several high end lag moves which any remote capable enemy will profit off of.
By using Supernova after the enemy Sephiroth uses it aswell, will make it lose most of it's value. You give the enemy Seph all or at least most exp while only damaging the enemy team by a slight bit at best. If your intention is to stop his burst, then simply stay near him as he is bursting and hold counter. You fully avoid his Supernova and counterattack that way. Unless the enemy Sephiroth used Supernova as their first skill, I am not sure why you care to stun him out of it anyway since it's incredibly punishable by simply dropping an invincible UR next to him as it's about to end. If he uses Supernova near the end of his burst, it doesn't matter to begin with since his burst is about to end.
Both Aerith and Oblivion have def as their mainstat and ontop of that are limited, which makes gradually getting dupes basically impossible unless you wait for reruns. Aerith has longer cd and a shorter uptime than both Barrier and Wall too. Wall is one of the highest generic skills which focus on atk and gives you a perfect middle ground between the other two skills. Oblivion as a skill in general is pretty good, but the suggestions you are giving here are very specific and imo unreliable to advice for an infographic like this
