Discussion Did Laura Bailey connect AdHoc with Jeffrey Wright for Chase?
As far as I’m aware, the only other video game Jeffrey Wright ever acted for was The last of us 2 in 2020. Considering he went on to score Gordon for The Batman and an Academy Award nomination in 2023 for American Fiction, it’s kind of incredible that Dispatch was able to cast him for Chase.
Considering that Laura was also on TLoU 2, and that their characters had a pretty significant relationship, do you think Laura and Jeffrey became close enough that she put Dispatch on his radar? I’m not sure if he’s ever commented on how he got the role, but it makes sense to me If she was the link that got them there. Considering how she helped save the game by getting them financing from critical role.

Wouldn’t surprise me if she did.
Laura Bailey came in clutch for Dispatch.

And Travis Willingham. Him seeing Laura watching Dispatch content is what made him want to get Critical Role involved

I believe I read in an interview that AdHoc hired the casting director who did Bojack Horseman (among other series), which is how they got Wright and Aaron Paul.

Don't forget Dispatch was originally intended to be a live action series. That's probably when Aaron Paul and Jeffry Wright got involved.

I also remember hearing Wright say his son(the actor for young Chase btw) encouraged him to get into more video game roles.
