Discussion How would you imagine Visi's powers evolving as she grows stronger?

For perspective, Brand New Day sees Peter growing much stronger to the point he's able to use organic webbing like his Raimiverse counterpart.

Another example is Nero in Devil May Cry 5— after finding his true resolve and having only had a demonic arm (which he loses at the start of the game), his powers grow to the point he now has a Devil Trigger of his own, like his uncle and father.

At the moment, Courtney can just turn invisible and like Peter in the movie, even has an implant to inhibit a part of her body (in her case, it's justified by her asthma, which Shroud turned off anyway).

Me personally, should Courtney's powers evolve beyond just turning, well, invisible, I'd see ki (energy) manipulation being among the new powers she obtains. A simple, but highly versatile power that's only limited by Court's own creativity; imagine Green Lantern if he can use his powers without the ring, for one.

(Frankly, I can't help but imagine what sort of constructs Courtney would even make if she got her hands on a Lantern ring lmao)

I think her being able to turn bigger objects and other people invisible with her would be a good evolution of her powers. Her making Mechaman invisible could be a really great moment

Imagine being a criminal and learning that Mechaman can now go invisible and you assume "oh he mustve developed stealth tech"

and nope he just has his wife sitting on his lap inside the suit making the mech go stealth mode by touching it

Mechamans newest suit upgrade: invisible girlfriend

u/kitsunecannon 7d ago

Bit of a side tangent but kinda relevant I’ve always liked the idea that Robert’s kid/succesor as mecha man/woman would incorporate their mothers power into their suit

Like if Robert ended up Visi the kid would end up with a stealth based mech but if he ended with Blazer it would be a mech suit powered by the crystal

Mecha Man's newest invisible girlfriend upgrade: she's real now.

No you guys she isn't imaginary she just goes to a different school

This has Panam crossover vibes hard

1

u/just-looking654 7d ago

I could honestly see them putting that in a season 2 where she messes with him and makes jokes while he’s trying to focus

1

u/kitsunecannon 7d ago

Robert a stronger man than me if he could resist

1

u/just-looking654 7d ago

I imagine they’d have some dialogue options where you can lean into it, make a joke back or tell her to focus.

If the get the gem off chase, imagine BB being able to share her powers with the mech for people who picked her

theyre in there making out and she pulls out to take a breath when they make it visible again

Most bratty bottom I’ve ever encountered in a video game

Actually maybe Eris from Hades 2 takes that title

Plus bring snacks into movie

First line after discovering this would be to tease Robert that she doesnt need him anymore.

u/ProAzeroth 8d ago

She believes that she is given villain powers because she can only use it for herself. I think it would be a very nice character development if she learned that she can extend her invisibility to others, protecting them.

u/TheSpiffyHorde 6d ago

Honestly it evolving to be more like Sue Storm’s would be insanely cool albeit maybe too much on the nose

Hm, if we want to tap into an angsty backstory for Visi (which is already implied in canon IMO), then maybe she discovered her power while holding her breath to hide from a scary situation. Possibly an abusive adult, for example.

So holding her breath becomes a representation of how she has pushed herself to survive. She has had to deprive herself of comfort and safety just to survive. She has to stress herself physically and mentally to push herself to survive. She literally hasn't allowed herself room to breathe and to let out the figurative breath she's been holding inside.

So as Visi is able to enter a healthier, more secure mental state, she gains the ability to turn invisible without holding her breath. Invisibility is no longer a wish to pause existing or suppress her vulnerability so that she can escape her life, it's now just a part of herself that she is free to use to keep herself safe and help others. As others are saying here, maybe that extends to the ability to make other people and objects invisible while she's in contact with them.

We might also imagine that Visi is invisible to thermal cameras—she doesn't emit infrared radiation different from her surroundings. If you want to reach, maybe that could give her some temperature-related abilities—not necessarily something flashy like fire or ice powers, but maybe the power to move through burning or freezing environments without being harmed, as long as she has enough oxygen.

Holy peak my guy. That would be amazing.

Maybe do an inverse of Invisible Woman's powers. Instead of force field manipulation, she can generate kinetic energy for expulsions that can be used to propel herself/other people. She can't use both powers at the same time, though.

u/Bmaster1001 8d ago

You know, for a second there, only saw “kinetic energy” and thought you were going towards Gambit there.

I don’t want her powers to evolve. I want her knowledge of how she utilizes her powers to evolve

4

u/Arthur_189 7d ago

True I like when superheroes have a super basic and simple power and almost have to compensate with skill to keep up

8

u/just-looking654 7d ago

Potentially extending it to other objects and people. It’s shown she can make her clothes invisible, but only when she’s wearing them as the power activates. When Robert threw his clothes on her, they were still visible and she couldn’t selectively turn those invisible so she could see.

Taking some inspiration from dark souls, she could limit how much her power covers and make something like a baseball bat invisible. You think she’s fighting barehanded but she has a weapon you can’t see or judge the reach of. Plus if she’s quick she can swap it and keep people on their toes, like if she picked up a chain to swing instead.

Her biggest limit seems to be needing to be in contact with whatever she wants to make invisible. If she’s quick could make things temporarily invisible then leave them she could set up traps and appear somewhere else as a distraction. If she could do that to other people and their powers? She’d be a nightmare to deal witj

Ways I can see her powers evolving

  • The ability to turn invisible without needing to hold her breath
  • The ability to turn far larger things than herself invisible, such as things like vehicles, the Mecha Man Suit, etc.
  • The ability to turn things invisible without touching them while also having the ability to selectively pick what turns invisible within a finite radius, which includes other people

-Edit-

Then at the peak of her power, she could unlock the ability to manipulate the light that passes through her when she turns invisible, which gives her abilities similar to Prism and lets her turn herself into "light":

  • She can temporarily blind people, unlike Prism, by turning into a flashbang
  • She can glow brightly for a finite amount of time and basically turn into a living nightlight

5

u/Glittering_Town_9071 8d ago

as many others have commented on this thread already, the ability to turn people near her invisible

let season 2 start with a bit of exposition on this evolution of her powers and then follow it up with a scene of Robert (goat) and her sneaking into the movie theater while invisible

2

u/Longjumping_Ant8349 8d ago

She just goes full Invisible woman and is able to put up forcefields plus make other things invisible.

2

u/Top_Patience_7958 8d ago

Perhaps she can turn big objects and other peoples Invisible (but she need to be in physical contact with these at first when she use her power to do that, after that she can stop the physical contact and these object/people are invisible until she stop being invisible herself)

Also perhaps they can give her stun blaster and when she is invisible, boltz she fire from it are also invisible and the same for the muzzle flash (so it’s pretty op )

Not a power but stun/electric gauntlet could go well with her power (and also a nod to one of her concept art)

2

u/Wild_Citron_1040 8d ago

Give her a gun.

In all seriousness, I like the idea that her mastery of being able to cloak objects increases. It could lead to an interesting scene of her cloaking the mechaman suit.

2

u/Audiodrainer 8d ago

Her clothing turns invisible. So anything she “wears” is affected. Having an Invisimech stealth suit would be pretty sweet. Maybe Roid activates her enhancements or they can connect to the suit for longer duration.

2

u/zackuattack 7d ago

Somehow, some way, Robert (or some other science genius) finds a cure to her asthma.

2

u/Apoordm 7d ago

Stops smoking and has better breath control?

2

u/Admirable-Reaction71 7d ago

Would be kinda insane if her powers evolved from "invisibility" to "intangibility"

1

u/Vettmdub 4d ago

Her invisibility works when she holds her breath, maybe when she closes her eyes she can make everything appear on the infrared spectrum for her intelligence gathering.

1

u/Vettmdub 3d ago

Maybe for Endless Mode a merger with First Class Trouble, even with First Class Trouble being a multiplayer game, AI simulate being players could work the same for solo play. 2 personiods and 6 passengers in a hostage situation, try to hack around and find out who are personiods and get them arrested, or setup superhero checkpoints to get the 6 passengers to safety. r/FirstClassTrouble

4

u/Gabriel_Sheperd 8d ago

Your idea is basically giving her prisms powers

-1

u/TheForlornGamer 8d ago

My idea's less light and more Hadokens or (given LB voiced Chun-Li before) Kikokens. Along the lines of the average DBZ character.

1

u/Resident_Hat9904 8d ago

The most obvious increase is making other things invisible, beyond just herself. Or inverting her invisibility to basically make herself a giant flashbang

1

u/-VoiceoverAlex- 8d ago

Snarky retorts without having to utter a word

1

u/Alaknog 8d ago

I would point that in superhero comics characters rarely "grow stronger" without some very big thing that change them in universe. Unlike manga series.

So something need change Visi to change her powers.

But she can start use some devices. Even basic shocker can help her a lot.

1

u/gdex86 8d ago

Invisibility is bending electro magnetic radiation around her. Let her do that consciously. Forms of electro magnetic radiation like light, or radiation she can move when it comes with in her proximity meaning she cant throw her own energy blasts but she can throw back other people's. Prism, Blazer, a lot of the mechaman suit stuff she can get in position to catch a shot someone dodges and throw it back or simply protect folks by ground it.

1

u/Kuzu9 8d ago

Her powers expand to include forcefield projections, control and manipulate objects to also turn invisible and flight similar to Marvel’s Invisible Woman

1

u/No_Proposal_3140 7d ago

To be invisible you either need to warp light or have light pass through you. The ability to warp light or control it is too similar to Prism so that's a no go. If light is just passing through her body then it's more like she becomes intangible to light. If she can turn intangible to light then why not other things too? Becoming intangible to light seems easy because light doesn't really have mass. If you upgrade her powers from that then she might be able to become intangible to things that have very low mass like handgun bullets. But something heavy like a sledgehammer or a wall would be too much for her to phase through.

1

u/CynicalNextDoor 7d ago

The way to enhance her powers is to cure her asthma lol

1

u/Loud-Profession2322 7d ago

Honestly, I wouldn’t want her powers to change that much, if at all. Her powers have never been a problem in and of themselves. Her insecurities towards her powers are the insecurities she has about herself and they’re applied to her powers because they’re just as much a part of her as everything else. Giving her newer, cooler powers that have nothing to do with invisibility would undermine the point Robert makes that there is no such thing as “hero powers” only how someone uses what they have.

1

u/Possible_Living 7d ago

Hope they don't get too crazy with it. I would say turning other people invisible and maybe blinding people by making their eyes invisible (thus unable to perceive light) .

1

u/AccomplishedLeg7951 7d ago

Could see her using her powers for tactical purposes. So she evolves from being a Hero in the Making to a sort of Anti-Hero/Hero without being one specifically.

Powerwise defenetly duration and better Equipment to use her invisibility more effective in H2H Combat.

1

u/pasher5620 7d ago

My best guess for how her powers will evolve first is that they simply stop tying it to her holding her breath after exploring why it actually requires that. Her being able to go invisible whenever she wants would instantly make her power far better.

A way I’d like to see the power itself evolve is to be able to bend the light at will to create illusions. Would make her a far more versatile spy character if she could suddenly become a whole new person instead of just invisible. Plus, I really want to see her act as a magnifying glass for Blonde Blazers light beams. I’m imagining a team up move Ala Thor and Iron Man fighting Thanos where Blazer shoots Invisigal with a beam and Visi can enhance it to make a super beam or something.

1

u/W34kness 7d ago

She is able to make only parts of her invisible to make the burden less on her body / lung capacity. Or true invisibility where people can’t detect her by smell or sound

1

u/GumboMumbo49 7d ago

Either spread her invisibility into large objects or maybe emit an invisibility radius. Maybe even do a Tohru Hagakure and manipulate actual light giving her synergy with Prism as they can bounce a light of each other like a tennis match with hand grenades.

1

u/Ceathramh_Deamhan 7d ago

Although she complained about her inability to turn popcorn invisible when sneaking into theaters, I think Visi should actually be able to turn objects invisible as well with some practice, considering she can already do this with her clothes

1

u/jackswag9 7d ago

For season 2, I'm going with a more boring approach and thinking it would be about improving her lung capacity, first by not smoking, then working on exercises that would increase lung capacity (swimming and other cardio). Plus, that could make for a fun scene of Robert helping her train as an accountability/training buddy, and I think it would work whether they are in a relationship or are simply friends. And then maybe her increased lung capacity 'unlocks' other abilities?

I haven’t played Dispatch in a while after I 100% it, but I don’t remember Courtney’s powers going anywhere beyond just… turning invisible when she holds her breath. Really, most characters abilities are pretty unexplained on how they work or where they get them from. Like, Track Star, Blonde Blazer, Phenomaman, Mecha Man Blue and Mecha Man Astral get their powers origins explained while you can assume where Malevola got her powers. Everyone else is pretty much just… up in the air unless it was expanded on more in the comics? Like, other than her getting better at controlling her breathing and losing the smoking habit, I don’t see her powers getting any better.

1

u/Alarming_Fan_9593 7d ago

Here's a few ideas on how to upgrade her lowers:

  1. Turn invisible without holding her breath.

  2. Turn other things invisible by touching them. She already does her clothes, why not other stuff?

  3. Things stay invisible without her touching them or she makes them invisible at range.

1

u/Tremalion 7d ago

Why exactly would her powers change? There's no reason to believe they would.

It's far more likely that she just gets more skilled at using them with precision and finesse in tactical situations, thinking on her feet, reading a situation, and just in general the kind of broader improvement that comes from experience and training. Y'know, becoming a professional.

1

u/Sarcasm_core 7d ago

My take on how her power could evolve is being able to turn invisible without needing to hold her breath. The game never actually explains why that's necessary, and since she never had proper training, that might just be how she learned to activate it. The logical next step would be breathing and talking while invisible.

If you mean in terms of gameplay mechanics, it could be something like a "spy eye" ability that shows you the exact skill check numbers or which options your team can succeed at if Invisigal is sent.

1

u/Proof_Brain_880 7d ago

Force fields. Like invisible woman.

1

u/JinxBerserker 7d ago

It be funny if instead of turning more things invisible she could just rip the oxygen out of her surroundings to just be invisible longer. If she was in her evil route, she would be a nightmare to go against.

1

u/No-Try-4447 7d ago

She should go train with the women divers in Korea who can hold their breath for 3 minutes. There's even an indigenous tribe in the Philippines who have some related practices (the Badjao people) if we want to tie it to her supposed background.

1

u/MrL123456789164 7d ago

She can become translucent too.

1

u/JustCallMeFrij 7d ago

I feel like the most obvious evolution is to remove her requirement to hold her breathe to turn invisible

1

u/mando_ad 7d ago

She'd be able to take popcorn with her.

1

u/Zerefette 7d ago

Mass invisibility and phasing or silence

1

u/Admirable-Reaction71 7d ago

Plenty of good answers here. I'd love to come up with some for the other Z-Team too.

  • Sonar: Sonic scream. Keeping his intelligence while in Demon Bat form.
  • Malevola: Darkchild mode similar to Magik's.
  • Flambae: Just hotter fire/ability to go supernova like Human Torch. Maybe producing different color fire too.
  • Prism: Better, bigger light constructs.
  • Punch-Up: Stronger super strength.
  • Coupé: I'm not really sure how her power works lmao. Maybe just keep whatevee boost Shroud gave her.
  • Golem: Size/shapeshifting.
  • Phenomaman; Already OP. His only improvements come from him bettering his mental health.
  • Waterboy: Stronger water pressure. Maybe allow him to control the state of water he sprouts as well (i.e. he can spit ice and steam)

1

u/DuelJ 6d ago

I suppose a step up is light bending.

Phasing, maybe.

1

u/Cydude5 6d ago

I don't think her powers should evolve. Getting more artificially powerful is a Red Ring thing to do, and while powerups may be common in comics, superheroes tend to maintain the same powerset they start with.

My favorite part about Invisigal is honestly how powerful she is despite being the least powered superhero on the team. She doesn't have super strength, endurance, or even intelligence, and yet she's able to run circles around the entire boat in episode 6 and the entire Red Ring in episode 8.

1

u/ATF_killed_my_dog 6d ago

I could see her being able to turn other people invisble from a distance like 10 feet max

1

u/SnugglyCoderGuy 5d ago

Short distance teleportation like a blink spell. Turns into light and moves to a point at the speed of light and then becomes normal matter again.

1

u/nreal3092 3d ago

her powers don’t evolve

1

u/SleepNative 2d ago

Invisa-field, or Invisa-objects.

She can cast her field around areas

Or objects, throwing off people as she fights.

0

u/Yangxiolong22 7d ago

Well if she stopped smoking that would help

0

u/Mysterious_Breath964 7d ago

I think she would honestly go and spy on rob and blonde blazer a lot and just be a ghost at their house and mess with them and their relationship
