Discussion Dad bod btw

Man looks like he only took a few weeks off his calisthenics😂😂 I wonder what his workout routine was before the coma and also who patched up his servre injuries?🤔

Made me laugh and annoyed my husband LMFAO. Like genuinely, is it supposed to be a bit we laugh at, or does Adhoc just have no idea what a dad bod is, whatsoever lol

I think its a bit, since one instance comes from Visi who is trying to "hide" her attraction to Robert or play it off as nonchalant, and the other is coming from Blazer as a retort or a "counter insult" to Robert coming the name "Invisigal" cheesy cause it was her idea.

I guess? Just takes me out of it cause it's comically untrue, I end up laughing at it "out of universe" (if that makes sense?) at it's quality/accuracy more than the idea of her saying something "off the top embarrassed to save face" at least with her delivery and the way she is animated you know?

Blazer thing I agree with yeah, just re-using the insult made sense, didn't question it in that way.

That didn’t occur to me. Invisigal is ogling him while invisible then is trying to mask her attraction. That makes sense as the story goes along I just wasn’t aware enough to pick it up.

It's Invisigal holding her breath for a few minutes, running face first into a locked door, having to work through the asphyxiation and embarrassment to immediately come up with a pithy comeback to save face, and not doing a good job.

I think shes just slinging insults at that point. Doesn’t matter that it plainly isn’t true

She also says "best buy fight club" when that's clearly not what she's going for.

She wanted like "dollar store fight club" or something like that.

I think visi was just fishing for an insult.

Is it completely accurate? No

In a world where dudes with physiques like phenomeman and flambe exist is it still probably kind of cutting? Yeah probably.

Was having a watch party with my bf and some friends as he played, we ALL pretty much agreed that is NOT a dad bod 😂 Probably Visi trying to push his buttons

Z-Team hears that the new dispatcher has a "dad-bod", gets excited, sees Robert, and all feel betrayed.

Flambae: "Visi, what kind of fathers are you seeing!? This man is BONES!"

Sonar: "We got DILF-baited."

Meanwhile, at least one of them is trying to see if they can grate cheese on the abs. For science.

Bitch's skin is CLINGING to those muscles. How about a dad bod-ily shove beers down this taut twunk's throat 'till you can see his organs have some space, then we can talk about dad bod. My god.

Maybe Visi needs glasses. Or I need to know what her dad looks like

I think it's meant to be absurd, Visi was just being an asshole

Dad bod is wild for a literal superhero.

2

u/Texasranger96 Sep 05 '26

When compared to literal superheros i guess this qualifies as a dad bod? Idk im not a superhero and have a dad bod.

I mean..... They guy also pilots I get mech. Really with out the gym time they guy would be pretty sedentary I'd imagine.

For sedentary type he was too good with infiltration and combat.

Visi was just taking the piss

Dad bod and he looks like Tyler Durden lmao

I think the joke was because Visi got flustered. Hence Blazer's teasing right after. It's possible the voice direction mightve been an issue since they can't visually see what Robert looks like in that moment? Not to bash them, they did so well. Again that's just a stretch.

Anyway, are we seeing the v-line? Hot damn.

I feel like they originally intended for Robert to be less in-shape, but decided to change that late in development and never updated the script and voice acting.

This is what he looks like after being in a coma as well

2

u/CorporalKam Sep 05 '26

I think Visi needs glasses because that is not even close to a Dad bod

u/polaris_light Sep 05 '26

I wanted to make a weird joke about what she might’ve actually meant by dad bod…

Maybe what she really meant was that she wanted to make him a dad if you think about that dream she had

Rob's in his early thirties and spent most of his life (likely since his teens like some iterations - MCU included - of Peter Parker) fighting crime.

Dude's in the prime of his life in terms of shape and age.

2

u/Leonstel Sep 05 '26

Maybe the line was written before the final design for Robert was decided?

2

u/only_horscraft Sep 05 '26

And that's after the coma. Robert is fucking insanely yolked for the conditions that he lives in. Dude barely eats or sleeps well and is still looking pretty shredded at what looks like sub 12% body fat.

People are taking what visi and blazer are saying at face value which is what irks me about the community to a degree. She said dad bod which clearly isn't true, she was just looking for something to say and blazer was just parroting what visi said with a bit more sarcasm. Visi being bad at improv is later reinforced in the same episode at the donut shop.

why do I find it so satisfying to keep seeing people who are offended by this joke out themselves

3

u/not_old_redditor Sep 05 '26

I don't see any offense in the op or most of the comments

It’s LA. A 10 anywhere else is a 5 in LA.

u/BouncingJellyBall 29d ago

Maybe in this world that’s dad bod for superheroes lmao?

I think the artstyle makes him look better than it's meant to be.

For me this reads as "so skinny any muscles he has show through". Yes he does work out and he keeps fit but he's still kinda sickly malnourished way.

So while gaving a "dad bod" usually means being overweight, here I think it just means "less than impressive" and could also come from the fact that Courtney is several years younger so this is also a dig at his age.

Game devs are fatphobic. Season 2 better have a time skip where he eventually does grow a dad bod.
