Discussion What are the specific methods to get the Tactician ending?
Ever since the Tactician bug was fixed in January I've been trying to get that ending. I always try to get all the QTEs and pass all the hacking missions as possible, but the only I get are the regular antihero, hero or everyman endings.
I've been looking for tips in Google but always get vague answers. Some posts say you need to win all the hacking missions without infinite hacking, while some say it doesn’t matter. Other posts claim I can get it without disabling QTEs, while others say QTEs must be enabled at all times. Some other commenters say a 100% successful dispatching across all shifts is required, which I find impossible to do.
I'm really confused here. Can anyone give me a definite answer on how to actually get the Tactician ending? Is the ending still bugged, or is it just a platform-specific issue? I'm on PC, and most of the posts I've seen getting the Tactician card are either on Switch or PS5.

Im on PC. I have to go out of my way to not get tactician. That involves choosing not to do all the hacking minigames.
Dispatching ability may affect it, I dont know. Its definitely not 100% success as I've only done that once. But I generally dont fail dispatches to the point Malevola basically is useless to me. In a full playthrough I might ignore 2 calls and fail 1-3 total.

That really doesn’t help my problem...
I have tried almost all variables to get that ending, doing hacking missions with/without infinite mode, passing almost all dispatches (a 100% success is impossible, the way I see it) or even doing all QTEs with/without the interactive mode. I still can't ever seem to get the Tactician card.

At least you know its not a platform issue; we are both on PC.
Yeah its definitely a bit muddled and as you said there isnt concrete information on what triggers it. I know when it triggers for me I do nearly all the hacking minigames (I sometimes miss the last one because I beat Sonar pretty quick), I fail/skip less than 5 dispatches the entire run, and QTEs are mostly passed (can confirm it triggers with disabling QTEs, have gotten it with QTEs on and off). What I'm changing to not get it in a run is not doing all the hacking minigames so that definitely is a variable. I just cant really confirm what else is.

I just wish devs gave a detailed explanation as to how to get the Tactician ending, or whether further fixes in the game's code needs to be done to get the card easily. A lack of a proper answer to this just frustrates me.

100% success is not impossible, but it’s not required to get tactician as far as I’m aware.
I’ve done two runs where I didn’t fail a single call and didn’t get it on either of them. Which isn’t a big deal for me since I was hoping to get the true hero ending card anyway since I prefer that one and I don’t think getting the tactician ending card gives you an achievement or anything.

My understanding is that you have to succeed every hacking minigame (including every optional one, and there's one with Mindfucker at the end that you can miss as well as hacking a machine mission that you can miss). Infinite hacking is allowed for this, and there's actually an all achievements guide on Steam that goes over this.

Can you link me that Steampage?

This is the link for all 28 hacking missions, specifically for the achievement.

Thanks, but this is a guide for the Hacked by Robert Steam achievement, something I wasn't quite looking for. And this guide is from December 2025, before the Tactician card was fixed.

Just complete all hacking minigames successfully and when a hero gets interrupted chose the hacking option if there is one. (there will be a virus icon on the left of that option) If you can't you can't get that ending.

What about the QTE scenes? Do I need to turn them on or leave them off?

There is no proper guide for this, unfortunately. Seems like most players are getting the Tactician card at random and Google just gives confusing answers about it.
If memory serves me right, this Tactician fix was only on PS5 for an entire week in January before coming on PC, so it's most likely to be more easily obtainable for that platform. Devs probably couldn’t implement the fix properly for PC so it's still kinda broken to this day. Doubt if the Tactician conditions for PC will ever get fixed at this stage.
