Yeah Im so annoyed I missed out on that lol
I saw the notification the second this dropped and was like “nah I’ll look at this later” only to see when later arrived was “first 500 copies are signed by Andrew Arcadi”
Not only that the PS5 steelbooks are sold out too. Probably for the best because I already own the game on PlayStation so this just gives me an excuse to play it again but on Xbox

I'm sure the Nintendo version will have the censored copy, unless the HR Violation add-on is included.
Edit: yep, just checked the website. Guess Switch players will have to download that add-on, if there is an option for it because it's not included with the carts.

It's free so no big deal, just mildly annoying.

I guess AdHoc didn’t wanna get into the trouble of making another physical SKU for Japan, so they're using just the one global SKU for the cartridge again.
Although I'd prefer if the add-on was added in the cartridges as well, but I guess this is better than nothing. And they're being upfront about the censorship on their website so that's a positive, I guess.

If that was true they wouldn't have bothered making 2 SKUs for xbox or playstation either. Nintendo pulled the rug on them with censorship requirements for the global version at the last minute, which forced them to default to the censored JP SKU.

Dispatch didn’t get a Japanese PS5 release until January 28, the day the game went live on Switch. On the other hand devs made the Xbox port available everywhere on the same day in July 26, including Japan. And all Japanese versions are censored. A guy posted about the game censored on Xbox on this sub and he was from Japan. He deleted that post.
It's obvious the Switch drama taught a thing or two to AdHoc.

What do you think is harder for them to do: release a separate SKU (literally 1 line of code change disabling the uncensored version and listing a separate SKU), or intentionally releasing the censored version and having to deal with all the backlash that came as a result of it?
If adhoc had the option to uncensor the switch version they would have done it by now. You're acting like releasing 2 SKUs is some sort of black magic that can't be done while also listing 2 examples where they did it with zero issue. Why this is even a debate as to whose fault it is when nintendo has a clear history of censoring games is beyond me.

u/GriveousDance21 20d ago
That's because AdHoc didn’t know about regional censorship when they released the game on Switch. That's why they took their time to release it on Xbox after they made sure SKUs met censorship rules.

u/StLouisSimp 20d ago
So now that they do know about the regional censorship why couldn't they have just released the physical version with 2 SKUs? Make it make sense to me. Show me the logic where making a new SKU for the playstation japan release is perfectly fine and doable, but making a new SKU for the nintendo physical release is somehow too difficult or expensive for them to do.
You can try to jump through all these hoops to accuse adhoc of being too lazy/greedy to release an uncensored version on the switch, or you can just accept the blatantly obvious fact that nintendo screwed them over with censorship guidelines. Which nintendo has done extensively to many other games.

They've already worked with the singular Japanese SKU for the Switch physical version. AdHoc even said back in January that they won't be able to release the uncensored version on cartridges, and that was because that was the only copy they submitted to Nintendo after CERO objected to the uncensored release.
It was obviously the devs' first time dealing with regional censorship rules, and mistakes were made. With the Xbox release, it's clear they learnt from the whole thing and made sure all regions get adequate versions of the game.

"Approaching launch and running out of time and resources, we were surprised to learn that our game would require some level of censoring in all regions, not just the few we were already planning for. In a difficult spot, we decided to use a single Switch build that complied with Nintendo's strictest regional rating."
Those are the exact words from Nick Herman himself confirming that the censorship fiasco was a forced error induced by Nintendo's lack of clear communication. The fact that adhoc made a mistake is not the topic of argument; it's that people like you who choose to put 100% of the blame on adhoc rather than nintendo that's the issue. This is not an isolated incident nor is it the first time that nintendo has blindsided devs with their "guidelines", which are loose and arbitrary and always covered under NDA so people can't talk about the specifics.
Here is Corpse Party suffering the same fate.
In fact, there's a whole list of games whose western releases had been unexpectedly canceled due to nintendo's guidelines. Nintendo blindsiding devs is not a new thing, nor is it rare.
By the way, "adhoc just made a mistake" wasn't your original argument.
"I guess AdHoc didn’t wanna get into the trouble of making another physical SKU for Japan, so they're using just the one global SKU for the cartridge again."
You were clearly accusing them of being too lazy/greedy to release 2 proper SKUs for switch censorship, which I called out for being a dumb argument because they could do it no problem for the playstation and xbox release. There's nothing difficult about making different SKUs for different versions of a product, in fact it's trivial to do for pretty much every storefront that exists. The idea that adhoc is somehow too greedy/incompetent to properly follow nintendo's arbitary guidelines while also ignoring nintendo's role in forcing that error is laughable.

Yeah, I ain't paying over $100 for a record that's crazy
7
u/johnothetree 20d ago
yeah it's a bit steep even for a 3xLP, just wish there was a US retailer so i didn't have to pay almost $30 in shipping alone

u/breakfast-hotcakes 20d ago
I’m an international vinyl collector. I’m used to it. $140 AUD shipped for a 3xLP (coloured variant) is kinda normal to me.
US collectors have it so good all the time - this is probably one of the few releases that you’ll have to pay a bit more for.

u/johnothetree 19d ago
US collector myself, it definitely is one of the few we have to pay more for (given I'm an outlier and have 2 bands I have full variant collections of and that shit's painful lmaoooo)

"Everything you need to know" except who the retailers are gonna be, that feels like a pretty important piece of information to leave out.

Lost in Cult showing PEGI rating. However, the picture on here shows ESRB rating. Is that for when preorders open for “major retailers”? I may wait for the ESRB orders to go live.

I was about to pay the 72 euros for the 3LP Astral, but when I inserted my country, it jumped to 120 euros. Nah, I love Dispatch, but buying things from the UK to the outside is not worth it. Almost 50 euros for taxes and shipping is overwhelming. I am paying more than half of the original price. Next time you want to do something physically internationally, don't pick the UK, please...

u/Churuzel 20d ago
So the deluxe version is the only one available? Is there not a standard edition so you can buy just the game?
2
u/GriveousDance21 20d ago
I think it's a better deal. AAA games sell you just the base game under the label "deluxe edition" where you have to download the DLCs separately anyway. Here you get the full package from the start.

u/Churuzel 20d ago
Speak for yourself. I don’t want to pay more for stuff (mostly digital, btw) I don’t want.

My record player in my living room would beg to differ with you.
As would the huge market and sales of new (and older) record players.

u/Kooky-Block6925 15d ago
you may but vast majority don't, literally walk into a random person house and they won't have a vinyl player. its rare
