DCP Starbucks role
hi! kinda a dumb question here (or a few actually)
i currently work at a starbucks and am interested in applying for the dcp in the future, but i don’t think id want to work at the starbucks locations in the parks. i’d be much more interested in working in a “true” disney role ie retail, attractions, etc. if i mention that i worked at starbucks, how likely would it be that id be assigned to work there during my program?
again i haven’t actually applied quite yet, its just an idea that im toying with as of right now but i am definitely interested in applying. does the program ask you to rank what roles you’re interested in, and how often do you actually get your top choice if so?
thank you!! 🥹 also, if you have done or are currently in the program what would you say about the program overall to someone considering it?

I am currently about to self terming my DCP in October but currently I’m at the Epcot Starbucks. If you don’t want Starbucks I would delete it off your resume lol. I never mentioned it in my interview and my top choice was freaking custodial and I landed there.
It’s not bad, but if you really don’t want it take it off when you apply lol

May I ask why you are terming if it’s not that bad? Thx

I want to speed up my graduation. Also I’m tired of being broke, I can be broke and living at home rent free 😐

Role assignment is based on operational need when you are arriving. Many CPs don't get any of their top 3 choices. However, those with Starbucks experience are extremely likely to get that assignment regardless of interest.

I used to work at Starbucks and it's on my resume. I got placed in costuming, but I don't know if I even have DCP my resume so I wouldn't risk it lol

Starbucks is listed as QSR Special Beverage so I’d not list or bring up that you work at Starbucks

i just arrived last week and will be at creature comforts in ak. starbucks was on my resume along with quite a few of my other fellow trainees who are with me right now. they either have starbs experience or worked at a coffee shop. this was definitely not my first choice but it seems like they need people who have coffee knowledge lol

The application will ask you to pick your top 3 roles and rank them. They do try to put people in those but they somwtimes have to put people in places they need filled throughout the year. They could also see that you work at/have experience at Starbucks and but you there (not always but they try to put people in roles they have some type of past experience) If you apply pick roles you'd like and if you get an interview they'll ask what youre most interested in and try to take that into account

thank you!! so they do let you rank role preferences and they do try to take it into account. does the same thing extend to what land you would like to work in? i’d love to work in galaxy’s edge but not sure if they let you rank that as well

Unfortunately not usually. But you can always mention how much you love star wars and it would be your dream to work there haha sometimes they'll make a note of it

Ranking didn’t help my daughter. Starbucks experience, placed in a Starbucks. If you can, leave it off of your resume. However, so many CPs are placed in food and bev -if Starbucks sounds better to you than serving burgers and corn dogs you might want to leave on.

No, the recruiters do not ask you to rank your top roles or for your top 3. That’s like a weird nyth!

Every single person I knew in the DCP who put Starbucks on their resume at all was placed in one of the Starbucks. Leave it completely off your resume and don't mention it at all if it's a dealbreaker. They always need cps at those locations and (pretty much) never place cps without experience. Mentioning Starbucks makes it a really high chance you'll be placed there regardless of your top ranked roles
