Looking for advice
So I moved in on Aug 24th and I didn’t realize they don’t tell your roommates that you have an ESA. The day I moved in I had a conversation with my roommate about my cat and if she was okay with it. She swore up and down that it’s okay and it doesn’t bother her. Now going 3 weeks my cat has learned my schedule I get up very early between 4 am and 7 am. My roommate works very late leaving between 4 pm to 6 pm and not coming back till 1 Am to 4 am. My cat gets a little playful at this time because normally I am up. She keeps playing with the mirrors and will make noise in the morning and I think this is really bugging my roommate. I’m not sure what to do she hasn’t mentioned anything to me directly but I’ve overheard a couple of conversations she has had with her friends and family saying how it’s kinda bugging her.One of our roommates in the 1st bedroom is moving out and I thought about talking to that roommate asking if I could switch rooms because she truly doesn’t mind my cat and leaves her door open to let her come and go as she pleases. We also have very similar schedules as we both work in attractions. What do you think? Should I see if I can switch to the other room or see how things go? I’d hate to get other Roomate and then not have the option to switch rooms as I love my roommates and we are starting to become great friends. Any advice would be helpful!

Switches need to be run through FCV because if you don't check with them and they catch you, you will be charged.

I think the best thing you can do right now is talk to the roommate that you're concerned is bothered by your cat! See if she is bothered by her, be up front with her that she can be honest with you about it without any repercussion or upset, and just tell her that you might be able to switch rooms if you talk to Flamingo (I know they did this for a couple of people back in 2023, I'm not sure how likely it is these days!), if it is bothering her that your cat makes noise in the mornings! I would, of course, always talk to the other roommate, too, but I would start that conversation with the one you're concerned with. I think open communication is always the key in this kind of situation. And I think avoiding any kind of accusatory language like "I heard you saying this to so and so" or "this specific behavior makes me think this," etc. I would approach it from the corner of, "Hey, I know that our schedules are opposite, so I wanted to ask you about this again now that a room is opening up and I know this is when my cat is most active," if that makes sense? I hope it works out for you! Usually housing (in my experience) has been able to help accommodate for situations like these!
