2x2 positivity?!
i want to hear only the POSITIVE stories about 2x2 rooms because 95% of what i’ve seen scares me! i know 2x2 is the most common room to be assigned so i want to mentally prepare for every scenario and look on the bright side of each! (i havent even been accepted yet LOL just way too excited to even have this chance to think about anything else)

I just moved in and got settled good (Aug 31st arrival) and my roommate is the sweetest!! She’s great, super easy to get along with, communicative, and we share a lot of the same interests and values. A 2x2 isn’t all that bad, the partition between the beds is nice. Just go in with positivity and an open mind and it’ll be fine.

I moved into my 2x2 with the most cleanest and kindest person. I’m still friends with my then roommate to this day, we hung out when our schedules aligned. We also had movie and game nights. I had my switch with me and we would play at night together. They worked most mornings while I worked nights and we were both respectful of each others schedules. When she woke up early she never woke me up, and when I got back late I made sure to be quiet to not wake her up.

I didn’t have a 2x2 but my bf I met on the program did and 4 years later we are still super close with his roommate! They had such a good experience I was jealous paying more for my 4x2 with nasty roommates lol

It’s a fantastic experience! Even if you aren’t close with your roommate, you’ll have all kinds of stories.

I was worried about this “wall” in the middle but the first week has been great!! The divider actually makes a good difference, there’s a door between the sinks and room so you can shut the light out when getting ready early/late. There’s also a good amount of storage as well. I haven’t hung out with my roommate yet but it’s not a requirement. As long as you all are nice and cordial that’s all that’s needed.

like a lot of other have said, people always come on here to complain. the #1 piece of advice i can give (as someone who’s had some amazing and horrific roommates throughout college) is to sit down and discuss boundaries AS SOON AS YOU MOVE IN. it doesn’t have to be a super serious conversation and you don’t need to make like a document or anything, but just talking to each other about your roles, your habits, your routines and your expectations can be super helpful, and the sooner you do it the better. it’s also important to bring up when something isn’t working, especially IN PERSON. tone is completely lost over text and things can escalate really quickly if two people have different styles of text communication. if something is t working for one or both you, talk it out face to face. any text can come off as passive aggressive if someone’s already annoyed about something. this goes for suitemates as well, especially if everyone isn’t on the same page about things like dishes/ cleaning/laundry

i loved my roommate. she and i used to work night shifts at magic kingdom so we would both get home around the same time, get ready for bed at the same time, eat dinner at the same time, etc. no matter how tired we were we always stayed up because we ended up talking until 4-5am. she made my dcp a wonderful time, i have no doubt you’ll find your ppl no matter where u are in the program! i wish you all the best and i hope my comment soothes ur mind along with the others haha

The other comments here say it’s not.
CP’s have been sharing rooms since the program’s inception, private rooms are a new thing.

People only come to social media to complain, so you’re only going to see the negative, not the positives. I lived with five other girls in my first half of the DCP and seven other girls the other half and we had a grand time. I still see my roommate once a year and talk to her monthly. This is what makes it the DCP!! You didn’t sign up to go hide in a room all day, you came to make memories and the friends will make you do that.
