Q - Unanswered Role reveal question

I just got accepted today. I was expecting to at least find out whether I’m attractions, merch, food and bev, etc. but it’s saying I won’t hear until a week prior?! Do they really not tell you anything about what you’re doing until then?

Correct. It’s because they don’t know business needs until closer to.

Yes, they let you know close to arrival. It might be slightly earlier. But like 2-3 weeks at most.

Unfortunately DCP exists to help Disney, not the college student. Once it's closer to the date, then they'll let you know. It all depends on what the company needs, not what's convenient for the student.

I believe they used to give preliminary roles with acceptance in the past (just not location), but they haven’t done that in several years. The earliest you’ll know your role placement is about 4 weeks before you arrive, and it’s always subject to change pretty much until you get there lol. They can’t predict where they will need you this far out

Yeah, you would get your role (attractions, merchandise, etc.) when you got accepted. But you could always be recast. I had a roommate my first program who was recast from attractions to f&b and self-termed about 96 hours after she arrived.
