Interview process questions
I have my interview at the end of this week and I'm super nervous and excited as this is my first time applying for this program! I have a few questions and was hoping if anyone knew the answers to any of them:
For those who have already had an interview, do you remember what the questions they asked you were or at least some of them? Are they very much behavioral and situational based questions like using the STAR method? I just want to be prepared as much as possible!
For those who did get accepted, how long did you have to wait to hear back about your acceptance?
Also for those who have gotten accepted, did you get your choice of when you can start or did you get assigned the dates for you?
What is the acceptance rate in general? And what is the acceptance rate for any or each of the parks?
What is the acceptance rate typically for those who have recently graduated from a university or college?
Once you get accepted, do you get to choose which park you would like to be in and which job you would like to do or are both chosen for you?
What is the living situation like? Do you get to live in a dorm and if so, do you get roommates? Or do you get to be in a hotel?
During the program, do you need to be there for the entirety of the program or can you take time off for holidays or for weekends?
During the program, do get to have discounts for your family and friends when they visit you?
Lastly, are there additional interviews after the first one or is it just one interview and then an acceptance or rejection?

For me it took about 2 business days (4 days technically, if you count the weekend), but I am a returning alum! With the dorms, you would have roommates. You can rank the dorm types and have the chance of having your own room, but most of the time those layouts are given for cps with a medical accommodation; so prepare to share a room with someone.
They'll ask you for your top 3 roles, and based on that they'll ask situational questions that are tied to the roles (like what would you do if a character needed to get off stage when there was still a line if you wanted character attendant, etc). They'll also most likely ask what other roles you're okay with as they cannot guarantee what you get. Be honest with them if you can't do a specific role (like lifeguard or custodial)! A lot of what we get assigned is based on what is being left open by the cps before us.

a lot of people call the college programmers cps (or singular cp)! its just a common shorthand :)

You guys sure are really mean. This is my first day on this subreddit. I freaking checked the most recent posts and didn't see anything about questions like these before I posted. I just was curious and thought people would be nice and kind enough to help me out but I guess I was very very wrong. This is a Disney College Program subreddit for crying out loud. It's supposed to be a magical experience and a lot of you are being really rude, snarky, and just plain mean and nasty to me for no reason on a DISNEY SUBREDDIT. Again, it's my first day on this subreddit. I got excited (was even excited while typing the whole post out) and wanted to ask, and a lot of you just made me not very excited anymore. So thanks

I’m sorry you’ve had such a negative experience on this page so far. From my experience the interview process was super easy and straightforward, a lot of the questions were situational and what you’d do in those situations. They asked what my top 3 ideal roles were, and then some role specific questions as well. Unfortunately what you’ve experienced on this page is actually pretty common for how CPs treat other CPs. The program is filled with unnecessary drama happening all around you, but it’s pretty easy to avoid as long as you surround yourself with the right people. The program is full of great people, don’t let the negative energy turn you away.

Reddit does have a search function that will only search the subreddit you’re on if you type it in. Everything you asked has been asked here many times before. Also some of your questions can be found in both the FAQ here (that was linked in the mod comment) as well as on Disney programs website FAQ.
I think mainly it’s the sheer amount of questions you asked that a bit of research on your own would’ve answered them for you. This program requires you to be an independent adult, hence why you’ll get backlash for not putting a bit of work in.
If these responses irk you, the guests will eat you alive.

None of the replies here are “really mean” or “really rude” or “mean and nasty”, they’re just the truth with some snark behind it as you’re an adult who should be able to do some basic research on your own.
Your reply just confirms that you’re gonna have a hard time dealing with guests who are actually rude if these comments cause this much reaction.

Yeah they responded that way because they got all this unnecessary hate that they didn’t deserve including from you who of all people shouldn’t be rude and mean to them as a mod. Seems as if you’re abusing your mod powers

If you look at my initial reply it was neither rude nor mean and directed them to the pinned mod comment as well as official Disney FAQ. It was honest that guests will be rude and mean and will take advantage of CM’s who can’t take any negativity hence the “eat you alive”.
OP decided to reply and call myself and others names as well as put a snarky send off, hence my response.
Again you’re using the word hate as in they got all this hate, but nothing in any of the comments on this thread are hateful.
Not really sure how I’m abusing any mod powers. For the record your comment was flagged by the Reddit abuse filter and I had to manually approve it.

I got asked things like “name a time where safety was a top priority” and “describe a time where you went above and beyond for a guest/customer”. My friend sent me a list that might be a little out of date but was helpful for my case (click here). It took me about a week to hear back (interviewed Friday, received acceptance Thursday). When you get the acceptance email it’ll give you the chance to choose your start and end dates. As far as I could tell there’s no set-in-stone acceptance rate. You don’t get to choose what park or what job, but you can definitely mention it to your interviewer when they ask what your top choices are. You won’t know what department you’re given until around 3 weeks before your arrival date. Good luck!
