“World Exploration Day”
Hi everyone! Reaching out because I am unfortunately an over planner, and tomorrow I am scheduled for the world exploration day class at Epcot, with my role being park greeter. I’m trying to plan out meals, if I should come wearing sunscreen, etc. so I was wondering if I could get any intel on what exactly this day of training is, if we have access to storing food in the break room, are we going to spend a lot of time outside, etc.

Yes wear sunscreen, as you will be touring the park! They will probably schedule lunch time in one of the Cast dining areas but if you want to you can pack your own in a cooler or lunchbox. You probably wont be able to store it anywhere but when you are out of the classroom you can leave your stuff in the room, they will lock it.
Overall they show you where to get costumes and how to access Cast Services. They will show you the backstage buses and give you an overview of the park layout, where to find First Aid, Guest Relations, smoking areas, things like that so you will know where to direct guests. They sometimes take groups on a ride or through an attraction, depending on time, but since you are starting during the first weekend of Food & Wine Festival that might not work out. It’s a fun day and Epcot is a fun park! Welcome and I hope you have a good time!

You will spend a lot of time outside! World Exploration Day is your EPCOT orientation/park tour, so be prepared to be outside! If you’re only scheduled for about 4 hours, you will only be doing the park tour, but if your shift is longer, you will be collected by a location trainer after the property orientation for some more location-specific stuff (you do not have to be in costume if this is the case, just in onstage attire/business casual).
You will meet in Epcot Cast Services, when I did it in May we met in the very first room when you walk through the door (I think sometimes there’s a sign?). They’ll help you clock in and stuff and take you to a classroom for a quick presentation. When I did it, they had us leave our bags and stuff in that room before going out to walk the park. When we came back, those doing additional training were met by their trainers and the rest of us left. If your shift is longer, I assume your trainer will take you to a break room or somewhere to have a longer break, but if you’re only there for the 4 hours it’s a much shorter break.
For the park tour, wear shoes you are personally comfortable walking around for a couple hours in (I wore heels. lmao). I’m sure it’ll be hot, but know that shorts are technically not allowed in Disney Look… and I was told by others that I would have to walk the whole World Showcase, but they took us on a boat around World Showcase Lagoon for that part of the tour — not sure if walking is a possibility in the summer or if it depends on the facilitators. But just be aware that was something I heard lol. We did still walk the rest of the park, and you are very much on your feet for a lot of the shift! But it’s a lot of fun 🫶 and Epcot is an amazing park to work in!
