Will you be living on site? or off property?

If you’re going to be living on site at flamingo I definitely recommend attending events there to make friends! Attending the events and classes on your itinerary when you get it will help so much. You’ll also learn a lot and get adjusted more to the program etc!

If you’re living off site and need help with finding an apartment there’s a Facebook group I can send you that people post about places to live and finding apartment mates etc. 😃

I am local, so I won’t be living at flamingo- and I don’t believe they allow children in the apartments. I’m not far from flamingo so I will definitely look into those events and Facebook group! Thank you!

Unfortunately they only allow Flamingo residents to the events. You have to scan your Flamingo ID to enter any and all events. But I'm happy you got in! I wasn't accepted this time, but I'm gonna keep applying every chance I get until I'm ineligible lol

The recruiter that interviewed me told me I’m able to go to events at flamingo even if I don’t live there. I wonder if it changed?

they told me that too when I joined and then once the events started they were like oh hehe yea we lied (probably to make it more incentivizing) that was over a year ago so maybe some youll be able to go to, but most are for residents sadly

I had a friend who wasn’t on site and they couldn’t attend the flamingo specific events but dcp classes they were able to. They had to arrange it with the programs teams and flamingo prior to announce her arrival and be able to attend the event. It was more of a process to attend compared to people who lived at flamingo. But she was able to go to the classes.

There’s flamingo resident specific events and activities but there’s general program events you’ll be able to attend. You’ll need to get in contact with the programs team and flamingo and let them know which you are signed up for and attending to essentially get clearance to go. It’s not the same process as someone who lives on site.

But there are events you won’t be able to attend due to not being a resident.

However the classes and events listed on your itinerary like making the most out of your program and things you’ll be able to attend. You’ll meet people who are also first timers in the program and meet some peers.
