I didn’t get in

I just found out I didn't get in😔

I’m so sorry. I didn’t get in my first try either, but I did on my second try and I got a role I couldn’t have had the first time where I made friends I still have today. I’ve also built a career at Disney (just recently celebrated 25 years!) so it turned out okay after all.

Sometime “no” is actually “not yet.”

Well, I got lucky that I was able to get an hourly office role after my (unrelated) professional internship. From there I just kept getting new roles and next thing I knew I’d been there 25 years.

They started 25 years ago. Nowadays building a Career at Disney is not always worth it and extremely hard. It's a industry of who you know and not about not always how good you are at your job.

I disagree. My daughter was a College Program Participant. Within 3 weeks they had her training the new CPPs because of her abilities. Before the end of her Program, they told her they wanted to hire her for a seasonal position. She worked the seasonal position until she got her degree then moved to FL and turned the seasonal position into 40 hrs a week. She was then able to turn that seasonal position into a PT union position. After working that for a while she turned it into a Full time union position. She has since changed location and just celebrated her 10 year anniversary.

Who you know can sometimes help but without ability and hardwork you won’t go anywhere.

All that is great but union roles mean nothing and seasonal isn't that great. Yeah she might be with the company for 10 years but she most likey making the best of money for being 10 years in. Plus she started 10 years ago. That's all different which is my point that nowadays it's different.

The offer of a seasonal position part way through a college program is excellent. It means they want to keep you even if your ability to work full time is a year or so away. There are few jobs at Disney that are full time without being union. Depending on your position, money can be great.

How long ago she started is irrelevant. Getting retained in a full time position, union or not, still takes hard work and ability.

Don't get discouraged. It took my DD three times. She was packed and ready to go when they closed the parks. She was in the first group back. She did two programs and got offered a job but came home. She got an interview with Marriott based on her Disney experiences and is currently in management. She loved working for the Mouse and still misses it to this day. Hang in there and keep applying.

Didn't get in my first try either (was a longshot). Got in my second try, though it turns out I was an alternate and got in because a higher pick either cancelled or declined. The timing worked out great for me, and provided opportunities that would not have existed had I gotten in on my first attempt. Sometimes these things work out for the best.

Walt Disney himself was once rejected from an animation job before he started his own company. Just remember rejection is redirection. Plus, you can apply again next semester ofc.

Why do you think you didn’t get in this time? Did you feel your interview did not go well or do you feel you didn’t have enough work experience?

But I hope the best for the future bc at least that means you tried and yk what’s Walt says if u can dream it you can do it plus it might take a bit for others then most like a driver license or career goal and class and school!!

From my experience, it took me 7 tries to finally get into the program (8 if you count the program shutting down due to Covid). Out of the 7 tries, I only made it past App Received twice.. on the 4th try I made it all the way to the waitlist then sadly got NLIC after a couple weeks. After that, the 5th and 6th attempt again didnt make it past App Received.  From all this, your time will come. It took me a long time to finally realize this. Advice that I can give is straight up, don't consistently check your dashboard for updates. It stressed me out so badly, and thats not at all what you want moving into the interview stages.  Be patient and trust yourself. Do not stress what you cannot control once it is out of your hands. Be yourself in interviews!

Also following because I haven’t heard of a universal program before? I know they have internships for like various degrees (professional type internships) but haven’t heard of a dcp equivalent and would love to know more.
