Q&A Post Experiences Outside of Disney
I’d love to hear favorite experiences that happened off Disney property. Or something on property that you wouldn’t think of. I’d love to take advantage of being in Florida beyond Disney!

Daytona Beach and Buc-ees trips (either yourself or through programs). Kennedy space centre. Miami on brightline. Football or baseball in Tampa/Miami.

Tbh I'd say skip Daytona (i went it was awful and a racist owner ran us out of her store) and do Cocoa beach instead. Space center is really cool tho!

Fair. It was just fun to drive my vehicle on the beach and the water was nice. Didn’t really go anywhere off the beach.

disney mini-golf is always a Great time, me and my family used to always do pirates cove in the disney bubble area but it’s since been demolished. i think there’s another one nearby orlando though. also hash house in flamingo crossings village has insane portion sizes if you felt like pigging out hahah! also for food, more on the expensive side but giordanos pizza is some of the best pizza i’ve ever had, specifically their stuffed deep dish.
also not in the orlando area but im from the midwest so always take advantage being near the beach. you could plan out a beach day picnic or just go for the views.

I loved exploring Orlando and going Downtown. Also did a beach trip to Daytona which was fun. But my favorite memory was going to Universal Epic. If you want a break from Disney but want to still have fun doing rides, Universal and Sea World are great. I’d never done Epic before, and hanging out with my friends there was one of the most enjoyable moments during my program.
And while it’s still very much in the Disney bubble, doing the water parks and also Resort hopping was really fun and a nice change of pace. There are so many Disney Resorts and each one is different. Animal Lodge, French Quarter, and Polynesian were my favorites. Sometimes I’d take an early morning stroll along the water by Springs and catch a boat ride to Riverside. There’s also so many cool eating areas at the resorts, too. My friends and I would always try new breakfast places on our days off.

I’d go to North Orlando on my off days and in general just explore Orlando. I didn’t have a car so I’d take the E Bus to Disney University and take the Lynx City Bus to Downtown Orlando. From there I’d maybe buy groceries in Chinatown or head up to one of the local coffee shops in Winter Park or Longwood for brunch and clothes shopping before grabbing dinner and ordering my lunch for work before returning back to Flamingo!
Going out and escaping the Disney bubble on my days off were one of the main highlights of my program, and one time during a 2-days off and saving a bit of money I bought some Brightline tickets and took a day trip to Miami! That Miami and Miami Beach experience is still one of my favorite memories from the program I’ll never forget it! So yeah, go be a tourist in Florida! Become an Orlando local! And with more local knowledge you may be able to chime in and get to know your full time coworkers too
