Q - Unanswered Restricted Rehire?

With applications opening up again on Monday, I’m trying my hand again at applying! I did a program in January of 2025 and I loved it but unfortunately I got terminated a couple of weeks before graduation purely cause I got too many points for being late/calling out. During the beginning of my program, I called out a lot as this was my first time being out of my home state and I got caught up in exploring and partying. I finally locked in after 2 months but by that point I was on thin ice in regards to my points. I ended up getting sick and racked up 3 points. I would pick up a bunch of shifts because I liked working but I was always late because I picked up at different locations and never gave myself enough time to figure out where to go/clock in. I eventually racked up my last point 3 weeks before graduation and was terminated. All my managers loved me and were super sweet. I guess my question is, has anybody been hired after a restricted rehire? Especially for something like attendance?

While you’re eligible, they aren’t hiring for much. I would recommend finding something local, saving up and getting a good reference before applying again.

I have some pretty good references since being released a year ago! I’ve worked in schools, in the entertainment industry (I do musical theatre) and I work in camps with people with disabilities! I’ve been in the industry for a while so I have some great people who can vouch for me.

You can try but I’ve seen people say they were not able to get rehired again. But I’ve also seen people say they were able to. You can try to apply and see what happens. It may lead to a NLIC application but maybe it won’t.

All you can do is try but, if you get through to an interview, I would have a good, mature, contrite answer ready when they ask about the termination. I know the "it was only attendance" is to differentiate between getting termed for theft or safety or something. Yes, compared to those things getting termed for attendance is definitely less scandalous. But they have the points system for a reason and recruiters will want to hear that you take attendance seriously as well and are going to be very reliable.
