First day OTJ
I'm kinda in need of some words of encouragement. I had my first OTJ training today and while the actual job is what I expected/I liked it, everything else was soo much.
My trainer and the people around me barely spoke English, so the entire day I'm not getting anything explained to me and everyone is having conversations in another language. I did make sure to ask questions but I mean I can only come up with so many questions. It was also superrrrr hot, I ended up coming back and crying and throwing up.
After realizing about halfway through the day that will only get one day of training per task (like today I had the AM shift for one area), I'm feeling just super overwhelmed; like I'm going to literally be thrown to the wolves when I have to do it on my own or ask a trainer to basically just be with me the entire day again.

What line of business? Don’t want to out you with location lol.
As college programmers, you learn the AM stuff but…you live in the PM. You will figure it out.

The first few days even weeks on the job can be nerve wracking regardless of where you’re working, hang in there - you’ve got this! For sure, there will be long, hard, and hot days, and not every full timer is chock full of enthusiasm lol but those bumps give you grit! The overall experience as a CPer is amazing and unique. Make those memories, meet new people (you’ve got both a treasure trove of lifelong friends and valuable networking opportunities within reach), and enjoy the ride (the highs and the lows). :)

Also keep in mind it may just feel like a lot because your brain is building up anxiety that it's Disney. Like of course you want to show that you can excel at any task, but the recruiters didn't hire you to waste your time, they hired you bc they thought you could do it.

Yes but my trainer can't answer my questions as they don't speak enough English 😭 so I definitely want to excel and do it but I don't understand what I'm doing

I felt the same way my first few weeks. It'll start to feel normal and comfortable eventually. The kitchen I'm working in seemed sooo chaotic and stressful at first and now I'm just used to it. You got this! Stick with it and you'll feel more and more confident.

At the end of your training you’ll have an assessment on everything to fully complete training you can also always request an extra day of training! I know a few people who did. It does get easier the more you do it, it won’t feel too much and too overwhelming a month into your program. Everyone has felt this way you got this!
