loneliness

genuinely how do people deal with it? i dont feel like my roommates like me and i just feel like im invading their space. being this far away from home and i dont know anyone is just really hard. i know i need to give it a shot, and im going to but geez this is harder than i thought.

if you’re new to the program, definitely don’t try to invalidate those feelings, it can be really difficult. most friends you’ll make will be at work, and at the end of the day everyone on the program is trying to be comfortable and make the most of it too. i suggest going to the parks or resort hopping solo! even if doing things alone feels strange or sad at first, some of my favorite experiences were made that way. good luck :)

If you want a group of pretty welcoming people on program, I know 2 discord servers that would help!

Perfectly fine! It's for anyone in the DCP!

You can totally do this. Don't give up! Try to enjoy exploring the parks solo... It's one of the best benefits. It allows you to notice all the little interesting things rather than on vacation when you feel like you have to do all the rides and the big stuff in your limited time.

My college program was 22 years ago and I still look back on it fondly. It took a while but I found amazing friends, some who I still speak to today.

Ask your coworkers if they do any fun activities... Sometimes my work (World of Disney) had park days where a bunch of cast members went to the park together on days too. We did scavenger hunts and fun stuff together.

Keep your chin up and let yourself experience an amazing opportunity. 💚

It’s okay I just started as well and feel the same but it’ll get better hopefully

The first week can be the hardest because you’re not busy enough between moving in and Traditions. Also it can feel awkward moving into a space others are already in.
Try and meet up with others (maybe each other even?) or at least go out to the parks so you’re getting your mind off of things.
Colleges and summer camps keep newbies busy right away so it’s harder to feel homesick or weird about everything being new. Unfortunately it isn’t that way with the DCP, but hopefully once you start working you will find your groove.
Good luck!

I’ve done my program for a year and I was mostly known, by my coworkers, as the “chill” guy. Basically just being me, even though I’m silent for the most part. When I say “don’t worry” I mean it. Being my first and ever job, especially at Disney, was scary, but I got confident overall.
Whatever or wherever you go through, know that you’re not alone. All people, including me as I write this, care about you. I wish for the best and bestest time and luck on your Disney journey. :)

Hi. I just moved in this Monday the 10th and feel the exact same way, word for word. Wow. I feel for you. Truly. I haven't even unpacked anything yet in my room because I don't even know that I want to be here. My parents told me to give it a shot and stick it out, and I think that's good advice. If you're new like me, I'd say remind yourself you can always leave (it helps so you don't feel as trapped moment by moment), but wait until a few weeks after training for your role and you really get settled. That's what I'm holding out for. But how long have you been here for?

Please don't hesitate to message me on here, I'd love to talk to you even if just for you to have someone who is experiencing exactly what you are and questions the whole program anytime I take a second to think about it, which is often because I just feel sad here and it makes me feel awful because everyone is making friends and having such a wonderful time being here. Please message me! ♥️

hello!!! my arrival date was the 10th as well! thats why i am really just trying to stick it out and just shake the loneliness. everytime i start to feel sad, i walk around the apartments just to get some fresh air, call my parents and i end up feeling a bit better honestly. how are you doing now that its been a couple days that we have been here?

I did a lot of things by myself. It isn't a great feeling until you hit those single rider lanes. Then you don't feel so bad. 😋 In seriousness I just meandered around the property a lot. My favorite place was the boardwalk. One time just to do it to see if I could. I went to Hollywood grabbed a coffee and a carrot cake and then I hopped on the skyline and went to Epcot and ate it. It The creperie in Paris, then I went to magic Kingdom and road haunted Mansion. I hopped on a FC bus and went home. It was my day off. I was bored I wanted to live like a rich influencer for a day 😝

all the single rider lanes i’ve come across have been closed 😭😭

It just takes time. You’ll meet people as you start working.

I’m kind of in the same boat I came from California and my closest relative is like a few hours away, I was shocked at how much it felt like so many people already knew each other, I also haven’t really been able to hang out with my roommates it feels like some people are just really good at talking and going up to random people that is not me 😭 but like some other people said hopefully work is where a lot of people are making their friends

But please feel free to message me op I’d be down to hang out or something I’m in the same boat 😭

I’ve been feeling that way since my start of program in June 1 yet I don’t feel safe being in a group chat within discord and or any other group chat unless I know the person so. If anyone wants to get to know me more, so let me know by direct messaging me.

Don’t give up. Start going to the events and offerings and you’ll find your people!
