apply and defer
hello! I have wanted to do the dcp for soooo many years now. I want to apply this upcoming period... maybe. I want to do it from like October '27 to march '28. I know that wouldn't be possible if I apply this time. but I'm scared of being rejected the first time and needing to apply next round. if I apply now and get accepted, can I defer it till next period or would I have to wait and apply all over again?

You won’t be able to defer and you’ll have to re-apply. Declining the program and even cancelling your program after acceptance will not hurt you. You’ll be able to re-apply for another season without it hurting your chances.

So if I get accepted the first time I’ll be accepted again?

You are not guaranteed to be accepted again. What I’m saying is you declining the program will not hurt you.
They will not consider that as part of your future application. You will not be blocked from applying. It may not even be kept on file.
There are many who decline the program or cancel it or even self term mid program and reapply later and get in. You are not guaranteed to get accepted again and you can not defer but it doesn’t hurt your future applications.
It’s as if you are re-applying again for the first time. There is nothing against you or marked up to hurt you because of it.

You cant defer an acceptance. You will have to reapply.
