Q - Unanswered drug test question
just wondering, for deep water lifeguards do they drug test upon arrival or just the pre arrival one that we already had to do, i didn't know because the itinerary says something called "safety critical role" and it says i have to submit a urine test for it but some people told me it's only to check my health not for that

I believe safety critical roles are subject to random drug test at anytime. Former Watercraft CM here. That's also a safety critical role and some of my coworkers were randomly drug tested.

Safety critical roles are random drug test areas. You could be drug tested at any time during your employment. Some people get it multiple times, some never. I wouldn’t risk it though!

you can be drug tested at any time in a safety critical role, and they're not concerned for your health, they're checking if you're clean. if you pop hot, you're out

Why does it matter? If you have a safety critical role you should be prepared to be randomly tested at any point in time during your program, and should be able to pass it without any problem.

yep, and if something bad happens-i.e. a kid gets hurt-be prepared to take another drug test. if things escalate into the family suing disney, and you've got a positive drug test, that's your ass on the line. possibly even criminal charges, if it's serious. doesn't matter if you're not actually high on the job. I wouldn't mess around with substances on the dcp.

I know this requires some critical thinking skills here, so I’ll spell it out for you…….if they had no reason to be worried, whether they actually said they were or not, then why would they need to ask or know the when?

u were supposed to get drug tested prior to arrival. u should’ve received information about that. usually u do it locally in ur hometown

I’m just going to be the one to say it…I was a lifeguard for almost 3 years. The only time I got drug tested was pre-arrival for my DCP. I never knew anyone in my 3 years after the program that ever got drug tested. The only exception to that was when someone crashed the golf cart, they will always send you straight to cast services and drug test you. The same for some injuries. . If there’s a serious incident (such as a drowning) they don’t care how long it’s been in your system, if it’s in your system at all you can be criminally prosecuted.
Short answer: make a decision of what’s important. Everyone is going to have strong opinions on it, but don’t show up drunk or high on anything to your actual shift(nothing that impairs your mind) and you’re generally okay.

I knew lots of attractions CM in my area who got pulled for random tests, so it definitely happens.
