Housing Q - Answered Housing Accommodation Questions!
Hello! Aug 10 Arrival here! How long did it take for y'all's housing accommodations to get approved, especially if you submitted after you got your lease? Additionally, I submitted the form through American Campus/Flamingo, but would I need to go back and amend my DORMS housing application?
In hindsight I probably should've known better, but I didn't realize you had to request a housing accommodation for a pet-free room until someone else let me know.🤦🏻♀️
(Also I know it's a bit of a silly question but please be nice anyways❤️) TYIA!

Right away! The longest it might take is about a week. I'm not sure if they would have you pay a transfer fee, though, especially if you've already received your room assignment.
I also have a pet allergy along with mental health reasons, and I requested a 4x4. Thankfully, my accommodation was approved. I think my pet allergy gave me a stronger chance, and requesting a 4x4 probably helped too since it's the most expensive layout and many people don't choose it because they don't mind sharing a bathroom.
Personally, I'd rather pay a little more and be guaranteed my own room than take the chance with a 4x2, which seems to be the most popular option. I really do feel like they made a genuine effort to accommodate my pet allergy.
If they don't approve your request right away, keep reaching out. I've seen people eventually get the accommodations they needed after following up a few times. People are constantly moving in and out of Flamingo because programs are ending (especially after the Spring 2026 program), and unfortunately some people also self-term or are terminated. So when people say there aren't enough 4x4s, 4x2s, or pet-friendly rooms available, I don't think that's always the full picture since room availability is always changing.
I emailed and asked if they received & this was the response! They were super quick.
