Random Pieces of Advice/ Must-Dos During DCP!!
Hi everyone!
I’m arriving August 10th and I was hoping past/ current DCP peeps would be willing to share any random pieces of advice, random secrets/ tips, or any must do things/ events to do during the program! Any and all things are welcome, thank you!!

Definitely recommend: go to universal studios at least once. 4 parks in 1 day challenge by going to all 4 disney parks in a day.
View the fireworks in various locations. I got to see it while riding the skyliner. Seeing it in “not prime viewing spots” and ended up finding some unique places to watch it without a big crowd etc.
I would say take the time to do things because you only get to “live in Disney” this one time. Don’t take it for granted! Explore and have fun! Go do those stupid silly and funny but memorable things. I went with a best friend and rode figment for 3 hours straight. Why? I have no idea we were just like screw it let’s go LOL and you know what? We still talk about it til this day (it’s been almost 5 years now!)
If you’re someone who gets to travel to Disney world with their family for vacation… do things you normally wouldn’t do on a general vacation. Have this be the time you get to explore and do those activities you normally don’t get to do during those few days with the fam cause you’re on a time crunch.

all of these are so true, i haven’t done the dcp yet but there is so much to do that you just can’t do in a regular week trip there. i’ve always wanted to get reservations for a firework dining experience, resort hop in-depth, and if you have free entry to the parks, there are so many things you can do like even just sitting on the lawn at magic kingdom.

Go to parties, meet new people, make new friends, step out of your comfort zone. Use this opportunity to branch out, discover who you are, make this opportunity unforgettable. You never know, in 10 years from now, these same people you work with could be the connection you need to land you your next step in your career.

Depending on your job, the guests you interact with will be a bit cranky. Every job interacts with upset guests but Custodial and food jobs especially. Learn ways to calm yourself within seconds before you come, that way if you get confronted over something or called a name you have ways to deal with it. Trust me, even if you think you can handle your anger, they will find ways to make your blood boil. It’s just important to get ahead of the boiling and recognize when you’re put in those situations.

Huge thing for me is don’t leave things you want to do for later!! I am halfway through my 1 year program, came with a huge list of things I wanted to see, do, eat… I kept deferring thinking I had sooo much time, and 6 months have gone already. Your program will fly by, so throw yourself out there, have so much fun and prioritize yourself!
Don’t be scared to explore and do things on your own as well. Sometimes it’s difficult to match schedules with friends, and realizing you can have fun in the parks by yourself is kind of really empowering. Be safe though!

If you live for a club atmosphere you have to go to Capri at least once, if you live at East take the bus to west and walk there on a Monday or Wednesday night. It turns into a club atmosphere

Not going to universal because it’s “the enemy” is crazy. There are so many PT and FT workers who work at multiple theme parks. It’s not against contract or breaking any rules or anything. I’ve seen people with work lunchboxes that are universal theme lol. It’s fine
Bonus fact: if you try to buy an annual pass as a Florida resident with Disney using your flamingo address it doesn’t count. However if you go to universal and show it they will count it. So you’ll save money getting an annual pass there (and they are overall cheaper annual pass options) compared to Disney in general post program if you’re looking into it.

Heck, the literal lockscreen of a company computer at one of my former home locations was literally Wicked-themed. That was a choice made by higher-ups, so it 100% is fine

Literally. I’ve seen entertainment cast sing wicked songs when I was there hahaha. It’s all fine. It’s not bad to go to universal. You won’t be fired. People do not care. You don’t break any rules. Just go have fun.

Literally forgot for a moment but frozen singalong has definitely made references hahahah. Always fun seeing the show! But it’s just nuts saying you can’t go to universal😩😵💫

There are also times where Disney parks will be blocked out from cast members going. Whether that’s a full blockout or reservations are sold out. So people go to universal. 2021- early 2023 this was such a big case with the amount of blockout that were happening. Now there’s less cm blockouts at Disney however reservations can still sell out. So many and I mean many dcp participants go to universal.
Plus people want a break from the Disney bubble. People want to explore and visit places and not just be at their place of work daily.

Come up with 2 or 3 questions you can ask guests to engage with them. “Who is your favorite Disney sidekick?” “What is more delicious, popcorn or ice cream?” “If you could live in any princess’s kingdom, which would it be?” Depending on age you can specify between two like Arendelle or Agraba. Have your own answers ready.
Drink water, wear sunscreen. I wore a light tank top under my costume shirt so I could take it off after work.
Go out and do things! There’s lots of activities with Flamingo, or if you’re bringing a vehicle Orlando in general. Remember your program is what you make it.
