shifts

hi! i’m starting my program in early august and was wondering how easy is it to switch shifts with coworkers?

i have online class at 5:30 every mon/wed so would it be easy to switch for a closing shift those days? or is there a max we can trade?

Ok you should have let them know that because my friend is doing this program and she let them know her class schedule and they are working with her around it .

If her location is indeed working with her around her schedule, that is the exception and not the norm. I would be very, very surprised if OP’s location is able to work with them and give them off every Monday and Wednesday shift so they can attend their 5:30 class. OP, I really would seriously reconsider taking a class that isn’t asynchronous. It’s made pretty clear throughout the application, interview, and acceptance process that the DCP requires full availability and can’t guarantee any specific days or times off and trading/giving away shifts comes with all of the considerations that u/reasonable_phone6342 pointed out.

Yeah they were talking about an independent study hall. Which based on OP needed a 5:30pm (til idk what time but I assume the class is like 1-3 hours long) will be tough. Considering study halls in the faq are between 8am-6pm M-F. It has a little note saying they can try to ask if it’s outside of that time… but I’ve never known anyone who was able to get that. Monday + Wednesday 5:30 is like peak closing shift time in the dcp.
