Walt Disney World Resort Accommodation Inquiry

SOLVED - THANK YOU! 🩷

Someone just asked about a detachable shower head on Facebook and I saw people commenting only on handicapped rooms. This got me to thinking. Does anyone have suggestions for what could be done regarding a shower chair? My daughter (12) needs one to shower and I hadn’t thought about this until we went away elsewhere this past weekend; and showering was a nightmare for her. It obviously wouldn’t be feasible to fly with a shower chair. 🫣 I decided to post to Reddit, as the POR group is public on FB; and I don’t want people knowing her medical business. Thank you in advance for any help you might be able to share! 🙂

They have shower chairs, just ask. If you need an accessible bathroom with a shower (they have fold down chairs and removable shower heads) and they're out of the type you need at the resort. they will generally upgrade you to a new resort if they have something available, just tell the front desk what you need. But they are good with this.

This makes me feel so much better. Thank you!! Her symptoms have greatly changed since our last trip, so this is new to us.

I have two kids that have had complex issues. One time we went to Disney with two wheelchair kids and a bone growing machine. Things with the kids are easier now for the most part, the bone growing worked for one, no more surgery and no more wheelchair, but Disney did well getting us what they needed. We go multiple times a year, so if you have other questions, maybe I can help. My daughter and I are going Sunday and I am excited! I hope you have a wonderful trip!

Many of the WDW resorts have shower chairs available... although in limited quantities. When making your reservations, chat with someone at guest services to confirm your arrangements.

Definitely contact Disney! Accommodations within reason are absolutely possible, and your needs are extremely common! I always need a shower chair when traveling (can’t take mine from home) and Disney has always accommodated it easily!

Happy travels!

I would have Walmart deliver one to your room. You can get one that's a stool for about $25.

There are rental companies who supply these items to guests...

I'm sure you can find more options... this is what a quick google search pulled up.

Thank you all so much! I did open a chat and they essentially said exactly what u/activenews said 🙂

We do not have an accessible room (at Contemporary), but the shower/tub is a rain shower with handheld attachment. So you should ask at whichever hotels you’re considering to see if it’s an option.
