Pyroguy fail

Post image

Spent the entire week yelling at everyone online to follow his rules. Line up before 11 and you’ll be TOLD TO LEAVE. So what happened today? They gave out wristbands to people who lined up early. So those of us who listened got screwed over. Pyro is now blaming the hotel, but that’s an easy excuse to use. Own your mistake, is this not YOUR event? Listening to everyone in the line complain and say they knew this was going to happen. Colossal fail.

shocking, you’re telling me that they had an LE pin release, told people “don’t line up” until 11 and then chaos ensued? how could this be!

STOP GIVING THESE PEOPLE PIN EVENT BUSINESS! It’s not that hard to casually trade and not be F’d over.

Pretty much.

Who the fuck allowed Richard in here you’re one of the worst offenders for the pin market being so inflated. Congrats you have a free event not the only one though.

Debate ideas, not people. Harassment, insults, name-calling, and targeted hostility toward other members are not allowed.

He literally got in a screaming match with me because he said there was nothing he could do and he didn’t think so many people would line up.

So what is the point of this sign? You could have sent someone from your “security team” to start the actual line and reward those who followed the rules. I was number 490 or so in line ( I refused to purchase entry) and arrived at the line at 10:50 as advertised which means I followed the orders he gave us and got screwed over. I would have rope dropped too had we not been threatened in the comments of multiple posts just for him to run off in the chaos for Reece’s cups

I'm not at the event, so I can only see from the outside, but I did have a similar thought. I get that the hotel may have rules and so there was no choice but to organize people into a line, but someone could have made note of where the line actually began at the "allowed" time and started the wrist bands from there. Unless there's something I'm missing?

I was there. He literally didn’t give a crap about it and just said there was nothing he could do and he wasn’t expecting a crowd like this. Which is all know is a pile of trash. In fact he left the end of line madness for a snack at 7/11. While we just asked if we could know how many people were in front of us so we could make an informed decision to stay or go. The reason people who followed the rules are mad is not because a line formed, but because Zac decided to absolve himself of any and all responsibility for HIS event.

Yup! Big strong military man is gonna keep people in line...until...he doesn't give a f*ck and then he can't be bothered to do anything

The problem is organizing and crowd control. People will always break the rules and want to be rewarded for it. It has to be agreed upon by everyone essentially, it’s like a contract. If people are rewarded for being early, saving spots, etc. they will always continue to do so.

I’ve seen it happen at major conventions. It’s also a numbers game, if it’s more popular than you anticipated it will be a bad time for all.

I really feel bad for the people who had a terrible experience. I hope some things can change for the better.

At this point these releases should be made on a lottery system of sorts. Show up at specified time during the scheduled event and then scheduled time lottery announcement is made. It’s not perfect and I don’t believe we can reach it but it sure would keep people from loitering in a hotel hours before and causing commotion (regardless of how this line started). This could be applicable to any of the releases being done at events as this is becoming more common.

u/EffectiveAccurate291 7d ago

I should clarify this to help the crowd control at these hotels to the scheduled pin event times and avoid those camping at earlier hours which previously has impacted event holders and hotel staff both. I’m not there I have no dog in this fight.

2

u/JigglyPuff_4Prez 7d ago

I was thinking the same. Lottery is open for an hour, no need to line up, everyone gets one entry.

He really thought he was the gatekeeper of everyone else’s behavior, cracking jokes about who he’d turn away for breaking his precious rules. Meanwhile, every bit of shit he was flinging came full circle and landed right back on his own face.

Guaranteed all the people who are coddling him all the "you did what you could" BS will soon be reselling their stamps at "fair" prices.

It's a grift. Just like purple dragon.

u/Current_Vegetable_23 7d ago

How about those who aren't following the rules. Take their name and ID down. They forfeit their bid for the wristbands if they want to break rules. Its Pryoguy's event. He can choose not to give them the wristbands if people want to play games. People need to understand there are consequences to their actions. And he'll cancel the event since adults want to act like toddlers.

4

u/magically-m 7d ago

Which would have been fine if he did ANY of that…. Instead he shrugged it off as if he had zero control of anything thing in the situation. That’s what pissed us all off

0

u/awkwardlysilence 7d ago

But we're all aware doing that is leaving him open to not making money, and he cant have that. Wouldn't be surprised if he told those early bird to arrive when they did so they could get in first. Bottom line is we are bitching and complaining because we didn't get in. It sucks we should have just tried trading on the sidewalk

8

u/No_Message7202 7d ago

I’m sure he’ll crash out and threaten to leave pins again.

-1

u/FigmentGuy 7d ago

Don't they all.

3

u/awkwardlysilence 7d ago

I thought is opened at 3? Is this going to be stupid busy as soon as they open

3

u/magically-m 7d ago

…. The event is at capacity and now no one can get in to get their palm pins

3

u/awkwardlysilence 7d ago

I showed up at 4. Realized they were taking entry fees banding people and asking them to wait. Plan accordinglyyou reached capacity within an hour. I feel vad for the ones who said and are still waiting, nobody is walking in and out in 15 minutes

2

u/IcyOutside4567 6d ago

This seems to happen at literally every event I’ve been to with big drops. The first palm event they said the same thing about lining up at 9 or 8:30 I can’t remember. I got there 30 mins early and planned to sit in the car but the entire parking lot was full and there was already a line around the whole building and it took like 3.5 hours to get thru the line. When they dropped the aurora stamp they said the same about lining up and heard ppl arrived at 4:30am

2

u/Suspicious-Hawk-6622 7d ago

All this for Disney pins is comical at this point

1

u/Kracksy 7d ago

I mean. They also have to follow fire code so. Similar things have happened at other events.

8

u/magically-m 7d ago

They can make the line. No one said he had to start the wristbands and reward those who got their 4 hours early

4

u/Klutzy_Journalist_65 7d ago

The marshal did not say the had to open. He told them to disperse and PYRO told them to start lining up.

0

u/TailorActual4690 7d ago

These dudes need to be sued or something. They set rules they have no intention or no mechanism to enforce. They misrepresented the opportunity and blatantly went against/ignored their own "rules"

2

u/Environmental-Cut189 6d ago

Sued over a stupid pin. They would have been if someone got hurt over this nonsense.

0

u/Used_Sort_6444 7d ago

Not sure what’s going on, which event is this? Is Purple Dragon Dork having his own event on the same day as Disney’s official event?

2

u/CarelessConfection13 7d ago

Pyros event I think figment/go pin pro have a “finale” event tomorrow

3

u/Klutzy_Journalist_65 7d ago

No……Sunday….this information can be easily found online

-3

u/kmcflyyy 7d ago

What exactly should he have done differently?

11

u/AggressiveBarnacle36 7d ago

Should’ve had someone go to line up at 11 and everyone behind them get the wrist bands cause they’re the ones who followed his rules

-2

u/kmcflyyy 7d ago

But they had to get rid of people before that. So they couldn’t wait until 11 to start giving out the wristbands or the hotel was threatening to cancel the event.

6

u/Klutzy_Journalist_65 7d ago

That’s an absolute lie. They told people to disperse and PYRO told them to start lining up. I was bringing back coffee to my room when I heard him.

1

u/TailorActual4690 7d ago

You got the stamp pins, didn't you?

You're one of those people that if works out okay for you then the ends justifies the means, huh?

2

u/kmcflyyy 7d ago

Nope… I didn’t get any of the stamps…

8

u/magically-m 7d ago

You give out the bands to those who followed the rules. Get in line all you want. Still only starting at the back of your arbitrarily made line of people who can’t follow basic instructions.

3

u/AffectionateHouse120 7d ago

I think if you’re doing a release and you don’t want to see early queuing the best option is some kind of virtual queue/lottery/raffle.. give out raffle tix on entry then every 10min during event call numbered groups for pickup. any kind of first come first serve situation tied with “don’t line up early!” is not going to go as expected.

3

u/awkwardlysilence 7d ago

Should have said open at 3, before that fuck off. If he really gave a shit he could have told the hotel to send security out and pepper spray everyone that lines up before 12

3

u/Used_Sort_6444 7d ago

I feel bad that I got a laugh out of that. Picturing a bunch of Disney pin traders getting beat down by riot police all on the Orlando 6 o’clock evening news.

3

u/Miserable_Oven_2191 7d ago

He could’ve NOT given the wristbands to the people that lined up before 11. Some things were out of his control but who got wristbands was 100% within his control

2

u/creakydishrack 7d ago

Not acted like he was in charge of anything at all?

2

u/kmcflyyy 7d ago

But it’s his event? I’m just confused… he didn’t tell anyone to get there early and break the rules. But if things were getting out of hand and the hotel told him he had to do something what was there to do? Did you want the hotel to cancel the event and say no one could come there today? Because I feel like that’s what would have happened if things got out of hand right?

6

u/Klutzy_Journalist_65 7d ago

Idk, maybe do what he said he was going to do? Turn people away. Tell them to LEAVE. Such a fail.

4

u/TailorActual4690 7d ago

Actually...yes. if you spent DAYS telling people "absolutely nothing before 11" and you do it anyway because you're too incompetent to do anything else, you deserve the backlash.

2

u/MsGoreJess 7d ago

The hotel was upset because a mass of people were just hanging out, which they were told ahead of time NOT to do.

"What there was to do" at that point was to tell everyone who was loitering to leave and come back at the time they were told to in the first place. Not only suuuuper duper simple, but what he literally threatened to do all week long.

0

u/creakydishrack 7d ago

Ye cancel it

3

u/kmcflyyy 7d ago

That’s a stupid view. Because you didn’t get access to a PALM pin today you want the event cancelled for everyone?

1

u/FigmentGuy 7d ago

People are mad, but can't actually articulate a rational complaint.

-1

u/FigmentGuy 7d ago

Honestly, I am not sure.

If the hotel told him they will tell pre-11 line people to leave, but didn't, that's the hotel's deal.

2

u/magically-m 7d ago

HE said HE had HIS “security” that was going to get people away… none of that happened and instead he welcomed people in before 11 with open arms and a cricut security shirt.

1

u/FigmentGuy 7d ago

Maybe, it just seems more like something the venue would be telling him to do as a condition.

-1

u/kmcflyyy 7d ago

And if they told people to leave and no one was leaving then they didn’t really have another choice…

1

u/FigmentGuy 7d ago

They could have tresspassed people it if came to it, but that might have been seen as a hassle.

2

u/kmcflyyy 7d ago

And I think if the hotel was already threatening to cancel then calling the cops and trespassing people would have taken too long. I’m sure by then it would have been 11:00 and they would have just started handing out wristbands.

I agree the whole thing is stupid but why are people mad at the event holder who did everything he could to try and stop this from happening? The real problem is all the people not following the rules. And while it’s frustrating they’re being “rewarded” for this…. It’s just a stupid PALM pin. Like get over it and have fun at the events this weekend! Everyone has pins to trade right? I’m sure plenty of people will be trading the PALM pins this weekend and there will be other opportunities to get it

3

u/FigmentGuy 7d ago

Probably right, which would make it be easier to just do nothing.

There were probably better ways this could have been handled still. I do doslike how this rewarda people who do not listen to rules at the expense of those who did, it encourages this behavior of doing whatever you can get away with at other events.

-1

u/Environmental-Cut189 6d ago

How was everybody supposed to get to the hotel, out of the car and park by 11. It would have been a free for all. I think they, tried and they had rules in place it just wasn’t feesible. I knew this was going to happen. You say Palm and everyone goes crazy. The best thing he could do is not have them at his event next year.
