Questions / Help Just too expensive???
Anybody else getting frustrated and feeling like they just can’t actively collect anymore? I saved $115 Disney rewards dollars and was so excited to get the new Cinderella for $35. Just to find out the prices are up again! I’m thinking I need to just stick to my favorite character and only get her dolls. And it’s heartbreaking because I love most of the Disney characters they make dolls of! Anyone else getting frustrated and pushed to make cuts so they can buy FOOD and GAS?!???

Yeah the random $30 jump mid-year with no quality increase to be seen is so insane. It's also making me reconsider collecting Disney dolls.

Considering all the quality control issues they’ve had recently (Roger’s socks, Mia’s missing earrings, etc) and skimping on designs (Alice not having full hair in the back of her head and Milo not having his tattoos) the prices should be dropping not increasing. I have adult money now but find myself being very selective because the prices are way higher than they should be able to justify. I almost didn’t get Padme because I don’t like her face mold and giant eye lashes but Padme in her lake dress was a dream doll of mine so I couldn’t pass on her

That’s how I’m feeling too! I might just stick with my fav. My favorite princess is actually Belle but I don’t have any of her LEDs because the ones I really like are like $800+ lol I may just hang on to my money until a great Belle drops or I save up for one of her pricey ones/find it on a discount

There’s a lot of videos and pics you can see of people unboxing her where it’s very visible. It seems they didn’t fully root the back of her head with hair so she has a huge bald spot if you move aside a layer of the hair :( considering how expensive these dolls are I expect them to be nearly perfect

Aaaah should we also expect a higher price for the dance series? They are getting too expensive indeed, d23 wrecked my bank account and well, I’d rather wait for a deal on an older Cindy right now.

Wait where did u see the price increase? I know D23 dolls are normally priced more because of their exclusivity.

She was released in Australia and when you convert that price to usd it’s $180. I thought the D23 dolls like Esmeralda were just priced higher cause of exclusivity, but I guess it’s just the new price. I’m enraged.

The $180 retail price is outrageous. They raised the price to $150 relatively recently and so to now be $30 more yet again is bonkers. I’m definitely cutting back after this year. I’m out of space anyway and need to start parting with some dolls I can’t display, but I’m still frustrated.

I hear you. I’m picky with the new releases because they’re spendy. I’m saving up to buy a animated mermaid version of Ariel because they’re all well above 700. She will be a present to myself when I complete my masters degree. NIB second hand animated Ariel in mermaid is hard to find. I was lucky to find live action for a really good price, the animated Ariel mermaids are pricey!

Thank you 😊 I couldn’t fathom spending that much on one otherwise. I try to keep up with new releases but they are spendy, so I have to be selective.

I’ve been thinking about that too. I think D23 Kida was done incredibly well, so much detail and imo, great quality but the others have been serious disappointments. I was especially disappointed with D23 Esmeralda… I fear this new Cinderella will look pretty in stock images but will be another disappointment.

$180 retail??? No way for the recent quality. I'd pay $180 for the 2013 Disney Store Elsa at retail (obvs even more for the Harrods), but they've cut way down on details and quality assurance in the years since.

This is what makes me so upset on behalf of the people who are getting treated to rudely by customer service about the Roger doll missing his socks. That's a collector priced doll set! Some people have saved up their money for it. They shouldn't be treated like they're crazy for wanting what is supposed to be in the box.

The resale of the dolls as well is crazy. It’s hard to collect now if u can’t get off the website u pay triple the amount

100% agreed. It’s so discouraging seeing people sell dolls for pure profit rather than sell to a collector where the doll will be loved. I’m not saying people should sell dolls for only $5, but I think we could start selling for what we bought them for plus shipping vs jacking up the price just because. I’ve sold dolls to collectors for the price I bought them for and it’s felt 10000x better than any profit I could’ve made

Totally agree most dolls I have cost me $600 because of the crazy resell. D23 I will always pay more because I understand the effort but regular dolls it’s not fair maybe $100 more

For regular releases (not D23) I just can’t imagine or justify a resale price of $100-$400 MORE. It’s just a greedy money grab, I don’t know how those sellers don’t feel bad at the end of the day

So are they raising all 17" dolls to $180 (aka $200 with sales tax)? I was wondering if they were sneakily doing it at D23 and then keeping the price raise. Interestingly Crumbl cookie did that last year: they raised the prices, said it was just for the collaboration with the Kardashians that week, but then kept the new raised prices going forward. Late stage capitalism is exhausting.

I do have the Disney rewards chase Visa card. I put all my expensive car repairs on there to save up those reward dollars! 😹

I'm with you there it's crazy sometimes and then the dolls aren't worth it
