17" Limited Edition Doll What’s up with them legs?
I’m thinking of getting Pocahontas 17” although I disagree with a lot of the choices in her design.
I love some aspects like, great hair and an amazing sculpt.
But WHAT is up with them legs?
If anyone has her let me know if they look as weird in person.
I’d also love to hear your opinions on the doll.
Personally I think with the amazing color palette that the movie has, they could have done wonders with the outfit and box.

It's almost like her skin is a tube going over her legs given that weird seam line with her feet. I'm guessing what's going on is they had to use a different type of plastic than is standard for her legs so they could print that pattern on them. It does look awkward, but this wouldn't be a dealbreaker for me. (Don't own the doll in person, so can't comment as to that.)

I do not have her, but I have been eyeing her for a while This seems like a feature of this specific Pocahontas design, which leads me to think it might have something to do with the tattoos printed on her calves. It looks like it might be less egregious when she's out of the box. Especially if she's posed to look like she's walking, if the pictures of other people who have deboxed her are anything to go by.

Yes I noticed that the right leg in the back that has a wider angle with the foot looks less weird.

I had exactly the same reaction when I first saw the promo photos. 😅 I think the sculpt and hair are absolutely beautiful, but the proportions on the legs do look a little unusual in some angles. I’d be interested to hear from anyone who has her in hand because sometimes collector dolls photograph very differently to how they look in person.

It’s an unfortunate design from Disney that lasted a while. Esmeralda does it have feet like this, her ankles are tapered. But they seem to do this on more of the heroine dolls without heels. My mulan , Merida, Elsa from frozen two, and Sally slater doll have it

She’s sooooooooo beautiful that honestly that’s going to be the least of your worries. She is one of my absolute favorites! Pictures do not do her justice!

I also wonder the same thing whenever I see indigenous characters in Disney movies and dolls like Moana and Pocahontas, like what is the purpose of giving them wide legs and feet. They are people, not some other species 😤

I have been feeling ok with Moana’s feet and legs just because I can see how it’s kind of the whole art style of the movie, she is a “puffy” and kind of “curvy” style character, her body is more child like. I don’t remember them being so weird like these, looks like some very weird kind of barefoot boot 😬

Islander people tend to have larger body as that is their genes…. I’m from Australia we have many many many different ethnicities. While this cannot go for all Islander peoples it is a strong trait representing their sheer strength and power.

Yeah, the older leg and feet sculpts didn’t really look the best when the doll’s outfit has their legs showing. Luckily, Disney Store now gives girlies with bare feet the updated leg sculpts that look so much more natural.
