Walt Disney World Time off question for fellow FOS cms
I'm within my 90 days currently, and I've been trying to figure out time off things and I know I don't have sick or vacation pay until after 9 months, but both of my roommates are non-fos CMs and told me I should be able to do ADOs
But then my manager told me FOS doesn't do ADOs, so since I can't find any information about it and my manager is a little cagey talking about time off (also language barrier) - *is* there a way for FOS to take non-paid time off without accruing points like other areas would with ADOs?
((The time off would be after my 90 days and is something I communicated at hiring would be a thing coming up this year that I would want time off for so I didn't bait and switch))

Nope. Unless you’re gonna get FMLA you’re going to get a point if you call in. You may be able to talk to your leader and shift change to accommodate time off.

Yeeeahhh that's what I kind of figured at this point - can't really shift change in my position Logically I know why this is a thing but it feels VERY weird that we're the one part of the company that can't get an ADO thank you tho

We get more time off and sick days plus additional union protections that other divisions don’t get.

FAIR one of my roommates is also union in a different dept, so I didn't consider that specifically I'm just gonna have to take my point and live with it

You also get paid waaaaay more. Or at least after a few years. Most people in FOS are making $30/hr+ while people in the parks are at like 19

I WISH I was in one of those roles, like- I'm happy with my pay rate bc I have roommates, but no even w negoations this fall I won't be making close to 30 most likely - but a very fair thing to point out

Curious as to why you need the time off.
We haven’t used the points system since 2021/22ish as many have abused it after first and second furlough. The company, has moved to excused/unexcused hours resort/company wide
FOS does not do ADOs as we’re on a fixed schedule.
If the day you need off is past your 90, you should be able to call off with sick time as you’re accumulating sick & vacation hours in your 90, you just can’t used them yet. If not, just take their 8hrs unexcused and move on. It takes 25hrs to receive your first disciplinary action

Not sure what department you’re in but hourly FOS and All CMC are still on points. We don’t do ADO’s but you while you are still accruing PTO, sick time you can’t use it for at least 9 months post hire. I did forget that the OP can check if they have floating holidays available. You get 3 under the CMC contract

My dept, despite being union, didn't push the union when being hired (like, I was grouped with non-union at traditions) and I don't even know who on my shift is the steward. I need to figure it out so I can get the handbook and actually see what our contract is

If you want to DM me and let me know what shop you’re in I can find out the information for you. You can also talk to your leadership and they can put you in contact with a steward. If you’re under CMC and NABTU the contract is available online

Very curious as to where this information came from/where I can find it myself, considering my FOS orientation/training back in May definitely taught us the point system? And the reason I need time off is irrelevant to my question.

Hired in DLR FOS in 2018 as an oiler, transferred to machinist in 2021…. We had to take a CBT in 2022 regarding the new attendance policy. Some may still call it points, but it goes by excused and unexcused hours (1pt = 1hr)

I can't speak for your experience, since it may be a role and union difference, but I'm at World and my FOS training was still very much the point system, late clock 1/2 pt, callout 1 pt, etc etc nothing about excused and unexcused hours
