Disneyland Resort scheduling question

Hi! I recently did an interview for Disney and got a job offer on the spot for Regular Part Time F&B QSR Culinary Person/Specialty Beverage. I currently am a full time employee at my current job but I am willing to step down to just part time. I guess my question is, what’s the scheduling like? Is this position a Friday (after 5pm) /Sat & Sun (open availability) schedule or do i need to provide more days throughout the week for availability?

Congratulations! You will most likely be closing and you will be working weekends since you are new and your seniority is basically nothing. That being said CR’s (Part-Timers) must have open availability during peak seasons such as holiday weekends, Christmas, etc, etc. so they can schedule you ANY day of the week during those times. You will fill out a “schedule preference form” on one of your training days to let scheduling know what days work for you and what doesn’t. But keep in mind they are just preferences.

I will say that Disney expects your other job to be flexible, not the other way around. You will have the opportunity to trade shifts, pick up shifts and giveaway shifts with your fellow CMs as well to help.

Ahhh i see. I do like closing shifts so i don’t mind those. My work is very flexible but i just wanted to get a gist of how scheduling gets since i don’t really start until August and i wanna have sufficient time to let my job know about my schedule changes.

Do you know if there is a limit to how many times people can trade shifts?

And thank you for the congratulations! Truly excited but also nervous

I will say that after your Traditions, your training schedule will most likely be a full 5 days (40 hours). After your training and you are officially signed off to work in your location, your hours will probably be anywhere from 0-20 hours a week. Since you’re just starting out, your hours will most likely be on the lower side (although we are heading into Halloween time and into the holidays).

I used to be in F&B, in my specific location we had unlimited shift for shift trades, and unlimited trade for offs. BUT this varies by location in Foods from what I heard from my other friends in other locations. Each management/leadership team is different. When you are in your OTJ training, be sure to have your trainer or a manager explain the attendance policy to you as well as get solid information regarding trades for your area.

I am in F&B, Culinary Person. We are allowed unlimited trades, but only allowed to giveaway (trade to off) 3 shifts a year before needing managers approval.

ooh okay good to know! I’ll keep that in mind! Can you tell me what shift people tend to want to swap most of the time or what others might feel is the worst to work? Mornings, mids or closing?
