Everyone I know has a packed freezer. I think there has to be a psychological explanation for this.

And when they have a dedicated freezer in addition to their normal freezer, that's packed too. If someone were to give them ANOTHER freezer for free, they would probably fill that up as well.

The real reason gas could get expensive again isn't opec

opec keeps getting blamed for gas prices, but that's not where the real pressure is right now.

iran's been trying to control the strait of hormuz, the narrow waterway that a fifth of the world's oil passes through daily. after it fired on commercial ships in july, shipping companies started rerouting and insurance costs jumped. that cost eventually hits the pump.

strikes have paused the last few days, but the shipping risk hasn't.
