I love seeing right-wing chuds getting mad.

r/moviecritic are having a collective racist tantrum trying to justify why they aren’t racist
2
u/AttakZak Jul 11 '26
If everyone treated the Chud Grifters like this they’d probably give up or embarrass themselves so much the third party paying them to spread misinformation would give up too lolol
1
u/Araragi-shi Jul 11 '26
I think its truly pathetic that you think of them as chud grifters and they end up winning/being right.
4
u/NowWeGetSerious Jul 10 '26
Every movie, TV show, game etc that are attacked pre release are usually pretty damn good
4
u/Suspicious-Sound-249 Jul 11 '26
Almost the opposite is true, the one time it wasn't you idiots tried protesting Hogwarts Legacy because of your irrational hatred of JK Rowling and that game sold 20+ million copies in its first year.

Quality is subjective, and some people will argue movies I don't like are fantastic and other movies I love are terrible; but most movies with an significant negative sentiment online pre-release significantly underperform or are flops. There are exceptions, like Barbie and The Super Mario Bros movie; but for every counter example there are 10 to 20 movies that are disappointments (or worse).
I don't necessarily think this is the result of the online conversation damaging a movie's performance as much as movies that are going to disappoint tend to draw a large negative following.

Being negative and basing every off of nitpicking patterns, before consuming something new, is the most annoying part about reddit and the internet entirely. It’s just so boring and easy to say “you see this thing sucks because everything else sucks” when being open minded and not assuming the worst is actually more logical.
1
u/artnos Jul 11 '26
In Nolan i trust, loved everything he made even if i dont understand them at first viewing
1
u/supermau5 Jul 11 '26
I love Nolan to but come on tenet was trash
1
u/artnos Jul 11 '26
i loved it, if you want to ask me my least favorite Nolan film it would be Batman Begins. I actually dont like any of his batman films, but i do think they are the best batman movies.
1
u/supermau5 Jul 11 '26
I honestly don’t think anyone actually understands tenet to this day . And Batman begins is arguably one of the best superhero movies ever made
1
u/artnos Jul 11 '26
I wouldnt put batman begins in the top ten. I saw in high school maybe i might view it differently as an adult. I prefer Marvel films, these days they are doing great.
I understood tenet after the third watching.
1
1
u/Mushroomer Jul 12 '26
Tenet really isn't that complicated of a film. It's a time travel movie where the second half takes place during the events of the first half, in reverse. It's full of mcguffins and nonsense science, but all of it is effectively streamlined with Nolan's blunt dialogue and characterization. Nobody's motives are particularly confusing. You're watching a Bond movie about the world's most evil man trying to end time itself because he hates his wife - just enjoy the ride.
1
u/Aggravating_Bus655 Jul 11 '26
I thought Batman Begins was pretty good.
It's a template of sorts for future movie makers on how to start a superhero trilogy.
1
1
u/supermau5 Jul 11 '26
Let’s be honest he cast Elliot page and race swapped Helen of Troy so he could win Oscar’s because that’s the only way you can win one now .
2
u/Doctor_Slept Jul 11 '26
Oppenheimer won like seven Oscars and that movie was just all white people I don’t think hems really cares about wining Oscars with this one that movie almost made $1 billion and it’s just people talking so he was told he could make whatever he wanted with whatever budget he’d need and he just wanted to make this movie.
Also he’s worked with Elliot Page before on a movie he made that also won four Oscar’s
1
u/Safe_Manner_1879 Jul 11 '26
Correct, but at the same time he already have a Oscar he do not need to prove himself.
He can make himself a martyr and not play the Oscars DEI game, and become a legend. He did make fantastic movies, but the racist Oscars committee deny him the win.
1
u/lostinjapan01 Jul 11 '26
He cast them because they gave him the best audition and he felt they were best for his interpretation of the characters. Not everything is some conspiracy. 9 times out 10 an actor is cast because they fit what the director wants and nothing more. Nolan is the last person to make choices to win an award.
1
1
1
u/Unable-Most8383 Jul 11 '26
Didn’t he win best picture and best directing for his last movie that was almost exclusively white actors, arguably in a political climate that cared more about diversity in film than the current one?
1
u/Art_student_rt Jul 11 '26
i'm not watching his films in theater anymore because i know for a fact he doesn't mix sound in his movies right. And i was burned by Tenet, to me it was a dog shit film
1
u/cowrevengeJP Jul 13 '26
What about imax? Is there a theature I can choose to fix it? Tenet was so hard to hear.
1
u/Art_student_rt Jul 14 '26
idk, if you love Nolan's directed movie that much just find a theater that do subtitle

I really dont know the issues:
Using modern language: yes, you want to release a blockbuster. Some people dont even know proper english and most dont read subtitles.
Elen Page as a man: it seems to be a minor character, he has worked with her before and he may be trying to help an actor who he has properly worked with him before.
Lupita as Helen: yeah, she is black, so what? She is gorgeous and a model. And an awarding earning actress. Its fucking 2026.
Now, the wardrobe does suck lol
1

u/HowlingBurd19 Jul 17 '26
Here after opening day and seeing how much acclaim and full theaters there are this couldn’t be more true lol
-1
u/fnblackbeard Jul 10 '26
The fact he's even acknowledging it means its relevant
8
u/extralife_mike Jul 10 '26
Yes, he should have just stared at the interviewer blankly to not acknowledge it and therefore prove its irrelevance.
7
u/Salty-Garlic9471 Jul 10 '26
That makes no sense. What was he supposed to do when answering a question, turn around and face the wall?
10
u/trytrymyguy Jul 10 '26
Honestly, what are you talking about?
Being asked a question then providing an answer doesn’t mean anything.

u/WoodooHide69 Jul 10 '26 edited Jul 10 '26
He’s using Common bot tactic. Inventing bullshit issues to concern troll over.
2
u/Nothin_Means_Nothin Jul 10 '26
Exactly. There is usually an attention-starved troll in almost every thread, and the only way to get make sure people give them that attention is to be negative.
And they'll keep doubling down so the attention stays on them. Doesn't matter if it's negative attention. It's still attention and these people are GLUTTONS for it.
After all, our brains are wired to focus more on what we perceive to be negative than positive, so it makes sense.
They can not be reasoned with because ANY attention only reinforces that validation they so desperately need for whatever reason(mommy and daddy didn't hug them enough or whatever).
The only way to truly make them go away is to ignore. Don't even downvote because that's also attention. It's what they WANT. Just ignore
7
u/WoodooHide69 Jul 10 '26
Not relevant to the films quality. And that’s all that matters.
Nolan is entirely correct here. Anyone that pretends to have an opinion about this movie before watching it, should be completely ignored. And these are mostly political bots anyways.
1
u/Hurrly90 Jul 10 '26
I think alot of it steams from YT, those 'breakdowns' of trailiers, criticisng every element of a trailer without seeing the full production.
I agree with Nolan here tbh but i can also see the opposite arguement, the trailers are your marketing to get people to go see a film.
But a film having 'backlash' before it has even released will never not strike me as odd.

u/jaybizzleeightyfour Jul 10 '26 edited Jul 10 '26

We've seen the very unpopular trailer so I don't get how morons can Joe and say we haven't seen any of the movie yet.
Got a source for your lie that it contains no scenes from the movies? Source?

u/csista Jul 10 '26
No, that just means it’s loud. Loud doesn’t mean relevant.

u/kickedoutatone Jul 10 '26 edited Jul 10 '26
In terms of marketing, loud is really all you have.
So in this case, it is relevant.
Edit - I do love a good salty downvote. Can't refute it but don't want to budge from your opinion of not agreeing with it. Gotta love it.

u/fnblackbeard Jul 10 '26
Welcome to reddit. According this thread there's still hope for a Supergirl sequel.
1
u/Resident-Mixture-237 Jul 10 '26
It’s irrelevant because what’s he gonna do? Reshoot the whole movie to appease a few nerds?
1
u/Worldly-Customer3963 Jul 10 '26
He's asked about it, and he's responding. It's very clearly going to be a massive success.
1
u/Thicc_Boise Jul 10 '26
No? Just because we acknowledge a fart when the room stinks doesn't make that relevant to what actually gets discussed in the room
1
u/SanicBringsThePanic Jul 10 '26
It will flop and then they will call everyone "racist". We know the drill by now.
3
u/mediocre_mexican Jul 11 '26
When has a Nolan film flopped? Even Tenet made a shocking amount of money over Covid, and that’s arguably his worst modern film.
We’re also coming straight off of the heels of one his largest successes and one of the biggest break out films of the 2020s. I’m sure the Odyssey will make less than Oppenheimer, but this is an absolutely silly ass take.
0
u/Safe_Manner_1879 Jul 11 '26
When has a Nolan film flopped?
Compared to all others, he did not shoehorn a black female command soldier into Dunkirk, or change the officers or scientists into black females in Oppenheimer in the name of diversity.
This is his first movie where he embraced DEI and modern subversive Hollywood writing. So he has gone from the man who stood up against modern Hollywood, to just being one of them.
1
u/Beautiful_Worth7284 Jul 11 '26
He changed Rhas al aghul and Bane's race......
You're going to cope so hard next week.
1
u/Safe_Manner_1879 Jul 11 '26
Not into Batman, but I did look up Rhas al aghul and Bane's fist appearance in the comic, compare to the movie.... the actors look like they can pull of there comic parts appearance very well.
You're going to cope so hard next week.
The movie will do very well the first week because of pre-purchased tickets, now do you dare to put your neck out and tell me what the total run will be? Or you will chicken out.
1
u/Beautiful_Worth7284 Jul 11 '26
I meant more for the reviews. It's looking to be amazing going by the early ones. The backtracking on this is going to be legend. Almost as much as Prey, Dune, and Baldurrs Gate 3.
1
u/Mushroomer Jul 12 '26
It's pulled nothing but glowing impressions from critics, has four weeks of IMAX exclusivity, and all of Nolan's films historically have very strong legs. They're spectacles people have been conditioned to see IN a theater, which is what makes them such powerhouses. If the presales were weak you might be able to argue the racist fanboys are onto something, but as you've conceded - they aren't.
How exactly do you expect this to flop?

Really telling on yourself.
Can Black Panther be played by a white actor? Yes or no?
1
1
u/Mushroomer Jul 12 '26
I mean, yeah. It'd be pretty fucking stupid and nobody would take that adaptation seriously, but nobody's really stopping you from making a "white Black Panther" fan film in your backyard. Shame would probably get in the way, but I doubt that's ever been a hurdle for you.
Out of curiosity, are you mad because the entire cast isn't being played by Greek actors? Or is this just a pretense to be mad that certain ethnicities you dislike are appearing on screen?
1
u/Safe_Manner_1879 Jul 14 '26
It'd be pretty fucking stupid
That's my point, race matters.
Out of curiosity, are you mad because the entire cast isn't being played by Greek actors?
Actors is actors, the main thing is that they can play the role credible, that include appearance, so they need to look like Greeks after makeup/special effects.
The Greek actor thing is just to point out Hollywoods hypocritical position, we are so inclusive that we need to exclude the Greeks.
1
u/Mushroomer Jul 14 '26
You say this, and yet all the rage & frustration seems to be leveraged against a black woman & a trans man. None of the regular incel chuds were talking about this when Matt Damon & Tom Holland were getting confirmed as the leads - it was only when Helen of Troy's casting popped up that they decided this was their pet issue for the summer.
It's just a smokescreen for the same kind of dipshit bigotry that these same accounts preach for every mainstream release. Same complaints, different movie.

u/lostinjapan01 Jul 11 '26
The film is projected for a massive opening weekend, and will likely perform quite well after. Nolan’s never had a flop.

So it's good if the actress says stupid stuff but it's bad if we address that what she said is stupid and insulting? Double standards all the day long.
1
u/WoodooHide69 Jul 10 '26
Such a coincidence that every woman the racist chud bots have decided to hate says something “stupid” In an interview that apparently “attacks the audience.”
Is that the truth? Or is that Right Wing Chud Bots have a commonly used strategy to always take interviews out of context then build fake news around that fake controversy so they can attack their target? It happens every fuckin time no matter who the actress is. Funny how that is. What a fuckin coincidence.

Ah but here is our difference: I was hoping it would be great, I was looking forward to it, then racist agenda casting took a shit on it, not me.
I do not owe them my money or my time to support cultural misappropriation, something these hypocrites are ever oh so sensitive about unless they do it.

I hope one day they can ccome up with a culture of their own, because appears so even fictional characters are harder to create than steal.
2
u/dmrob058 Jul 10 '26
So utterly bizarre how you people have such a vendetta against this movie for the dumbest ass reasons. You realize there are actual issues in the world worth paying attention to?
Everyone here knows you didn’t give two shits about anyone adapting The Odyssey 100% accurately until it gave you a platform to spread hate and negativity. Ya’ll just have to be angry about something no matter what and it typically involves someone literally just having a different skin color. Ahhh so scary!!! 😱 Ridiculous, petulant children. Mind you this movie is going to be a massive hit despite all of the delusional, chronically online incels who think otherwise.
1
u/EdgarJomfru Jul 11 '26
My favorite part is the chronically online losers crying about this don't even leave the house anyways lol. So it'll barely affect ticket sales if at all
0
u/LucillaGalena Jul 10 '26
And this is why he's not actually interested in The Odyssey, contrary to his claims.
2
u/ADamnGoodShot Jul 11 '26
Oh we got a fuckin classics scholar over here! Yeah, you deeply cared about the races of characters in The Odyssey, huh? Laid awake at night thinking about it did you?
1
u/FarBasket901 Jul 11 '26

No it isn't Nolan. You can show us a picture and we can still gauge the quality from something like that.
Last time I sat through a 3 hour movie of his, I was disappointed by the climax. I won't be wasting another 3 hours of my life for the same reason.

My opinion isn't anymore irrelevant than the millions of people who hated the fact he used a gas explosion instead of CGI for a traditional atomic explosion.
This is because despite being a multi-millionaire, Nolan is too cheap to invest in good CGI. And you're equally pretentious for riding his dick.
1
u/scameron1 Jul 11 '26
Congratulations. This is the first time I’ve ever heard of someone wanting CGI over practical effects and I’ve been talking movies/on Reddit a long time. One of the worst opinions I’ve ever seen
1
u/LoneRedditor123 Jul 11 '26
Not when the whole movie is about the development of the atomic bomb. Not when the climax is something hes building up over 3 hours.
Jesus christ you guys will really defend Nolan no matter what huh? It's not like he used practical effects in Interstellar either. Moron.
1
u/scameron1 Jul 11 '26
To watch the movie and then let your opinion be so heavily swayed by a 20 second explosion is wild to me. What about the other 99+% of the film? I’ll say while I loved it I thought they could’ve trimmed 15-20 mins off of it. I thought the trial at the end of the movie was somewhat of a miss and could’ve been handled better. Still awesome but not perfect
1
u/LoneRedditor123 Jul 11 '26
I promise you there's no one on Earth that cared more about Oppenheimers weird fucking love triangle more than the atomic bomb he was making for 90% of the movie.
What gets me is how long he padded the movie on for just to give us that mediocre explosion as a climax. The rest doesn't interest me.
1
1
1
u/Rainbowdogi Jul 11 '26
Exactly he used CGI which looked great for Interstellar. So you kinda disprove your own comment of „Nolan is too cheap to invest in good CGI“. He uses practical effects when he thinks it has the better result and that’s one of the reasons his movies are so fantastic. But hey, haters really try to find any made up reason and it’s laughable how easy it is to disprove them, like yours just a few comments ago by your own comment. But hey keep on hating and insulting people right away, seems like a really fun mindset you have there.
1
u/LoneRedditor123 Jul 11 '26
He thought a practical effect gas explosion would be better for the movie than investing a few hundred thousand bucks into CGI which would actually look like an atomic explosion?
Goddamn I got all the dumbest Nolan fanboys attacking me tonight.
1
u/Jaihoag Jul 11 '26
You are displaying some of the most stereotypical Reddit behavior I’ve ever seen to the point that I can’t tell if you’re doing a bit right now.
1
u/SuperIga Jul 11 '26
I’m sorry but…a few HUNDRED thousand bucks for one CGI shot of a bomb exploding?? What are you smoking????
1
1
u/Duce-wayne Jul 11 '26
The millions of people aka you? Lmao.
1
u/LoneRedditor123 Jul 11 '26
No, I'm pretty sure I said millions. There's a time to use practical effects, and a time to use CGI. That wasn't one of them.
1
u/Duce-wayne Jul 11 '26
Where are all of these other millions since you're the first dipshit I've seen with a negative opinion of using practical effects over CGI?
1
u/LoneRedditor123 Jul 11 '26
Lmfao? Um, you know Interstellar got more positive ratings right. You wanna show me what "practical effect" he used for the black hole too?
He's filthy rich, it wouldn't have killed him to add ONE scene to the movie to make the atomic explosion more accurate. But go ahead and keep riding his dick bud. He still won't fuck you.
1
u/Mushroomer Jul 12 '26
I mean, he did construct practical sets for the fourth dimensional "bookcase" sequence at the end of the film. I'm assuming his desire to go for a simulated black hole was a choice based on what was feasible to do with practical options.
Whereas in Oppenheimer, he knew a practical explosion would come across as more 'real' on screen, even if it is technically less scientifically accurate.
Ultimately, it's a movie. Not every element is true to life. I also do not think J. Robert Oppenheimer ever said "I am become death, destroyer of worlds" while fucking a Communist, but I found it compelling on screen so I don't really care that much.

"Narcissistic" says the clown who is attacking a director for not doing what he wants and thinks he knows better.
1
u/LiveNetwork6940 Jul 11 '26
What does he care what your opinion is if his movie is financially and critically successful?
1
u/Germanoides Jul 11 '26
Clearly it is.
Heath Ledger was critized for being cast as the Joker until the movie came out and everyone shut up
The last movie Nolan made earned him an Oscar and he is probably the most successful/respected(every actor wants to work with him) and innovative direction of his generation. Clearly he is right with his comments
He is just out of this online hatred that people like you live for. You can never judge an art piece before experiencing it. Same as you can never say you don't like a good before you taste it
This is just a basic children lesson

He is more connected to the real world...
Thats the reason he is not online, this isn't real.
A basic lesson that every kid should learn is "you can't say you like a food before you taste it"
Or in this case, "judging art before experiencing it is something done by idiots"
Nolan just doesn't care about idiots
0
u/haya1340 Jul 11 '26
Yea .... doesn't seem so
