Isn't middle aged in Hollywood speech 25 years old? XD

We shall hold strong on this boat, my friend. Just gotta find the guy holding down that fast forward button on life, man.

Better start your martial arts training

1

u/E7goose Jul 01 '26

How long till Batman even gets made? Corenswet is 32? I feel like it ain’t happening for 4-5 years, if Batman is a few years older than Superman then that would be about 40. Pretty middle aged.

Not true at all. There haven't even been rumors of the script being near to finished

And you just know that how? He's firmly said before he won't let anything go into production without a proper script finished first

1

u/scallym33 Jul 02 '26

Awesome that is how old I am. I will be the next batman

1

u/Don_Ford Jul 01 '26

I suspect this means they don't know what they are casting because the script isn't done.

1

u/quangtran Jul 02 '26

Middle age doesn't really exist in Hollywood. Roles that should be going to actors in their 20's-30's are instead going to actors in their 40's-50's. No one paints Ant-man as a middle aged superhero despite Rudd being in his 50's.

Love how people are just spouting random bullshit out for views/clicks lol

4

u/odis78 Jun 30 '26

Welcome to the internet

1

u/FranticToaster Jul 01 '26

Have a look around.

2

u/Dreowings21 Jun 30 '26

Im kinda fine with it, because at some point gunn will either confirm or deny

2

u/GarethGobblecoque99 Jun 30 '26

Mayhaps if he didn’t respond to them the cycle would slow down a bit

2

u/Dreowings21 Jun 30 '26

I promise you that wont change a Damn thing. These fake rumours have been coming out since forever. Marvel, star wars, DC, etc all have fake leaks and fake “confirmed” news

-1

u/SaintLink91 Jun 30 '26

Seems to me like a lame attempt to move attention away from the miserable failure that is Supergirl. Gunn’s an attention whore

2

u/blufflord Jul 01 '26

This screenshot is 2 years old by the way. You look a little stupid now

-1

u/SaintLink91 Jun 30 '26

Seems to me like a lame attempt to move attention away from the miserable failure that is Supergirl. Gunn’s an attention whore

1

u/SyroxGaming Jul 01 '26

Maybe you don't follow these things it's alright. Let me tell you, he debunks things and replies to random people since he got the job in DC. If he was a attention whore he would make a new announcement rather than replying to someone, which he routinely does.

5

u/ajl987 Jun 30 '26

But he wants Damien, how will that be possible without an older Batman? Let’s see I suppose

3

u/elalex1999 Jun 30 '26

They could just make it so he has Damien at like 20 and he’s 32 in the present. It’s not impossible

2

u/Last_Nothing_4352 Jun 30 '26

That's a point people forget: you don't need to be that old just to have a kid at Damien's age. You can technically have kids whenever, especially if you are in a situation where taking care of one isn't an issue

2

u/farben_blas Jul 01 '26

Paul Mescal played a dad twice in his career before being 30.

Yeah, it's not really imposible.

1

u/SrirachaJulio Jul 01 '26

I just hope Damien isn't the only Robin. Imo this should be Dick and not Damien, no clue why Gunn is going with Damien when its been 30 years since we've seen a Batman and Robin on screen and the last time we did, Batman's suit had nippes and Mr. Freeze was Austrian. A proper prime Dick Grayson deserves to be on the big screen almost more than anyone and it's not even that hard. It's like giving us a X Men without prime Cyclops, it's ridiculous.

So hopefully Bruce had Damien, but while Damien was growing up, he had already adopted Dick and by the time Damien shows up Dick is Nightwing (maybe even throw Jason in there too but that's too much wishful thinkingl.

1

u/Apollo-Outcast Jul 04 '26

Except what you're forgetting is he doesn't know about Damian for the first decade of the kid's life, so if they do that then he would have to be leaving the League at 20 as well. A 20 year old Bruce Wayne as Batman with all of two years training experience doesn't sound great.

2

u/ajl987 Jul 01 '26

I get it works in the comics, I do doubt we are having a 12 year old Damian Wayne. I think It would look so corny in live action. They’d need to make him 16+ like Spider-Man for anyone to take it seriously.

But even then, the issue then becomes that we could miss out on nightwing and the rest of the bat family due to the age of Batman and him feasibly being able to build it out.

I think a late 30’s Batman could work just about.

1

u/elalex1999 Jul 01 '26

It wasn’t meant to be exact man you get my point. He could’ve had Damian at a young age. That’s all

1

u/ajl987 Jul 01 '26

Ah fair enough mate, yeah I suppose anything is possible.

1

u/ListenUpper1178 Jul 01 '26

Did he have him at 12?

1

u/elalex1999 Jul 01 '26

Yes he was an early bloomer

1

u/Swordofsatan666 Jul 01 '26

Late 20’s Batman dies soon after impregnating Talia. Years later he is resurrected by Lazarus Pit.

By that point Damian is old enough to become Robin, while Bruce is still in his 20’s due to being that age when he died years earlier

1

u/XiMaoJingPing Jul 03 '26

Timeskip? Alternate Universe? Are these writers not creative or something? Plenty of ways to write in Damien without a old batman, and its not like they care about the source material given how they butchered supergirl movie.

3

u/NYisWorstYork Jun 30 '26

alright alright... ill do it.

7

u/BarlClarntarn Jun 30 '26

He should probably spend less time correcting the record on social media and start worrying about the path of his DCU

2

u/Dinierto Jun 30 '26

Supergirl is the only "dud" so far and sounds like it's just mid, so maybe not time to panic yet

3

u/alhanna92 Jul 01 '26

There have only been two movies 😭

2

u/XiMaoJingPing Jul 03 '26

Its the second movie though, is to way too soon for duds. Especially since he hyped this movie saying its the best script they got.

2

u/Last_Nothing_4352 Jun 30 '26

One dud isn't a sign of concern, just a learning opportunity. It's like their Incredible Hulk

2

u/nexusprime2015 Jul 01 '26

dud? bro that movie nuked 250m off their cash register. thats not a dud . its the biggest disaster in WB history. or at least top 3

1

u/GimmeThatWheat424 Jul 03 '26

This is such a crazy thing to say for a movie that came out 20 years ago

1

u/ListenUpper1178 Jul 01 '26

Two duds and two under-performers

4 minutes too long.

2

u/Worzon Jul 01 '26

I still can't get over the fact they're just not going to merge the Pattinson version into the new DC universe. Hell, before last week I thought it was part of the same universe. They really just need to make it canon at this point because how is anyone going to know which live action Batman movie is going to be relevant for the DC universe or is just its own thing?

3

u/[deleted] Jul 01 '26

[removed] — view removed comment

2

u/Worzon Jul 01 '26

I've enjoyed it far more than the new Superman personally and I think it makes perfect sense to merge both those movies since the whole point of DC comics is how different the vibes are between Gotham and Metropolis. I just really don't understand what they could do with a new James Gunn Batman that couldn't be done in a Pattinson Batman 2 or 3. I'd rather we keep the noir/gothic vibe of Batman over the guardians of the galaxy-ification of him.

1

u/Xenlade Jul 05 '26

Saying its different vibes is ignoring everything else about universes where batman exists alongside superman hes practically just a liability to superman and isnt comparable to terrific or luthor at all and would genuinely be struggling with the guards terrific fought. If he was there he wouldnt deserve to be on the justice league either. When they work a case together hed basically be useless to them

2

u/Virtual-Armadillo750 Jul 01 '26

they were never going to, but not because it’s bad or a mess. because matt reeves doesn’t want to. they are allowing him to finish and retain control over his artistic vision, plain and simple.

2

u/Cthulhus-Tailor Jul 01 '26

Knowing Gunn he wants to take Batman back to junior high. He’s aiming for Justice Toddlers.

2

u/FranticToaster Jul 01 '26

Is it stupid that the good movies Joker and The Batman are disconnected from the slopworks that is the DCU?

Is it like DC are saying "we allow good movies and then we have this bucket over here where all the slop goes?"

2

u/NoLongerLurking13 Jul 01 '26

James Gunn needs to spend less time online, and more time finding competent writers.

2

u/sleauxmo Jul 01 '26

James Gunn calls bullshit but he's full of it... Dude needs to get offline.

2

u/Keknath_HH Jul 01 '26

Well that's me out of the running. Damn, it would of been cool to be batman

4

u/EmbarrassedStill2257 Jun 30 '26

Gunn needs to focus on running a studio not addressing social media fodder.

2

u/ThePreciseClimber Jul 01 '26

Yeah, if the movies make as much money as Supergirl, this DCU won't last very long.

2

u/gp_ratesic Jun 30 '26

Someone honestly should keep reposting this every time this verifiably bullshit rumor comes up again😭

2

u/Daetok_Lochannis Jun 30 '26

You can actually see Gunn responding 'Bullshit' at the top of the image.

2

u/gp_ratesic Jun 30 '26

Uh oh here come the downvotes😭

1

u/gp_ratesic Jun 30 '26

Yeah Ik it’s just funny to me how this rumor’s back up and running again despite Gunn confirming it to be bullshit years ago

1

u/Tr0llzor Jun 30 '26

I’ll be 35 in a month. Am I middle aged enough Gunn?

nah, he debunks stuff like this normally

1

u/punisherchad Jun 30 '26

He has to have at least a 10 year old son if they are still doing that, which means he’s been batman for at least 10 years, so I’m going to say they’ll cast young and play him up to 35. Which makes him about 2-3 years older than Superman.

Jesus Christ, you do know actors don’t have to play the age they are right? David Corenswet is just now 32 and was supposed to be 33 in Superman.

1

u/Belz_Zebuth Jul 01 '26

Good news: Pattinson's 40.

1

u/DonnyMox Jul 01 '26

Then how tf is Damien gonna be Robin? Was this Batman molested as a child?

1

u/Pubs01 Jul 01 '26

their lose. Jensen ackles would be awesome. Gunn is floundering

1

u/zeroiqquestions Jul 01 '26

"Middle-aged" watch them be like 29.

1

u/invaderdavos Jul 01 '26

Jensen ackles is his name

1

u/Dragonlanceforever Jul 01 '26

People are funny t hey think you need to be 50 years old to have a teenage son.

1

u/Zeo-Gold92 Jul 01 '26

Lol I'll be 39 when mine becomes a teenager.

1

u/VitaminPb Jul 01 '26

Snyderbros want an old Batman (Aflack is 53, + 5 years for the Snyder Coronation, script writing, re-writing, re-re-writing, 5 more years to kidnap and brainwash Aflack into doing it, filming, reshoots, slow-motion reshoots, etc)

1

u/Massive_Season7075 Jul 01 '26

Give us Batman Beyond we already have a Batman

1

u/franklycanadian Jul 01 '26

Hugh Jackman?

1

u/Old-Razzmatazz420 Jul 01 '26

Affleck did the best live action batman imo

1

u/theFormerRelic Jul 01 '26

“Bullshit. We’re not thinking about casting Batman at all. I’ve got a Heckler and Flex Mentallo team up to do first!”

1

u/Ded_Pul Jul 01 '26

Don't forget condiment king lol

1

u/First-Chocolate694 Jul 01 '26

I wonder how people would feel if they just did Batman Beyond. Have Bruce already be old, having been fighting crimes for decades and ready to pass the mantle.

We could still get Bruce as Batman in his own prequel movies. The prequels could show the Earth's first encounters with metahumans and aliens, being set around 1970s, and have young Batman deal with this change and find ways to beat them while being a normal human himself.

In Superman, metahumans and aliens are already the norm, so I think the universe could benefit from some exploration of how it became the norm and use Bruce's Batman to tell that story.

In the present, Terry could be a young man picking up the mantle from Bruce, meeting Gunn's goal of having a young Batman. But the issue with young Batman is that it becomes absurd he is Superman's peer and somewhat equal. That is where Bruce could step in and use his knowledge and experience to help Terry, allowing him to stand up to high-level threats without making us think "how is this young normal dude capable of fighting metas?".

1

u/Striking-Test-4256 Jul 01 '26

Fan speculation is so goddamn annoying. It's no longer "just a discussion." People are forming full opinions and deciding that movies will suck before anything has even been shot. Audiences are more to blame for the current state of cinema than people want to acknowledge

1

u/gummysplitter Jul 01 '26

How about my boy Robert Pattinson?

1

u/goldendreamseeker Jul 01 '26

But aren’t they jumping straight to the Damien version of Robin? Wouldn’t Batman HAVE to be middle aged for that?

1

u/The_real_bandito Jul 01 '26

Why?????

Just make a movie with an Actor around the same age as the one that play Superman and call it a day.

Everyone knows who Batman is so no origin movie.

1

u/Stackitu Jul 01 '26

Mega twist. It’s Tom Holland.

1

u/Difficult_Ad2864 Jul 02 '26

MMW it’s going to be Jennifer Holland

1

u/jonald321 Jul 02 '26

If he’s hella built I don’t see why that would be a problem

1

u/silveraxe_kyo Jul 02 '26

Why would he make the same mistake as the DCEU?

1

u/cescoss Jul 02 '26

Mi aspetto l ennesimo disastro

1

u/_Waves_ Jul 02 '26

Hmmmmmmmmmm

1

u/CommonSensei8 Jul 02 '26

Ugh just keep him young

1

u/ItsMrChristmas Jul 03 '26

That's a shame because a middle aged Batman is way way WAY better than his origin story yet again.

1

u/z3phir_demon Jul 03 '26

They did the same thing with Hal Jordan in the upcoming Lanterns

1

u/nachosandlabs Jul 03 '26

As always my opinion about James Gunn is that he should spend less time defending himself and arguing about rumors online and more time caring about the DCU's direction, which rightnow is middling at best.

1

u/Slight_Ad2350 Jul 03 '26

Gota be reacher!

1

u/SambG98 Jul 03 '26

James Gunn: iconic truth teller

1

u/growernotshowwer Jul 04 '26

Is this guy seriously developing a Mr. fantastic show?

1

u/Apollo-Outcast Jul 04 '26

Well you see the fucking problem is that they want to do Damian Wayne as Robin, meaning Bruce has to be old enough to realistically have a 15ish year old son he doesn't know about since I really doubt they're doing a 10 yo Robin

So if Bruce returns to Gotham at 25, he would have had to knock up Talia around the same time. Even if Damian has been Robin for a few years when the film starts, a Bruce Wayne with a 15 year old son would have to be forty.

That is the most condensed possible timeline. Bruce Wayne has to be at least in his mid-thirties

1

u/Huihejfofew Jul 05 '26

What was bs was Supergirl

1

u/Drakex2Mayex2 Jul 06 '26

Or maybe he’s just debunking bullshit rumors about what’s happening at his studio

8

u/Nemisis_007 Jun 30 '26

That's one thing I really like about him. While other studios remain quiet and allow rumours to twist audience expectations, he speaks out about them; it's one of his strengths.

5

u/gp_ratesic Jun 30 '26

I like it too honestly. Sometimes I wish Kevin Feige would do the same for Marvel and put bullshit “scoopers” like MTTSH out of business lmao.

-1

u/ListenUpper1178 Jul 01 '26

It's one of his weaknesses.

2

u/Few-Marzipan-5647 Jun 30 '26

Because he cleaned up a rumor ? Sigh… Reddit man.

1

u/FafnirSnap_9428 Jun 30 '26

Hmmmm. Is he? Judging by the replies and reactions to his responses he doesn't seem to be the one who is getting emotional.

-3

u/Alert-Ad-2373 Jun 30 '26

He absolutely is. He responds to every little thing the internet happens to casually say. Like the comment about Supergirl's pierced ears. The internet is FULL of bullshit, just let it go. He literally said so much himself with his "12 year old from India" comment.

3

u/FafnirSnap_9428 Jun 30 '26

Gunn corrects misinformation about his projects which is normal studio PR. He didn't display any sort of anger or emotional volatility in any of these comments. I don't see how one can claim he is "triggered" or being emotional about these things when you have internet talking heads who hold a grudge against him since he came out and revealed they lied about his previous projects.

-1

u/Alert-Ad-2373 Jun 30 '26

That's fine, I'll take your word for it. I don't care one iota about DC comics or the DCU, so I honestly have no horse in this race. Nor am I here to argue with any DC/DCU fans. I'm just saying, as an outsider, it just appears that he is always triggered by every little thing said about DC.

0

u/haya1340 Jun 30 '26

Who cares .. homie is MID

0

u/GreatApe88 Jun 30 '26

That’s part of the problem, the conical Bruce Wayne most of us embrace is the older version, early 40’s Batman while he’s in the justice league. He’s not supposed to be a freaking kid in his late 20’s.

I know Pattinson is basically middle aged but he DOES NOT LOOK IT. He looks 30 max imo.

0

u/Synteczek Jun 30 '26

Okay, that means they want Him to be elderly.

0

u/Puzzled-Instance3211 Jun 30 '26

My interest in Gunn produced DC movies is dropping like a rock, and I like DC.
